Why do we have to go through it?
I was taking the HRT tablet, Femoston, but was suffering from an all-over body itch so, stopped taking the tablet about 2 weeks ago. Although the tablets help with the hot sweats, the itching was unbearable. I now need something to help with the hot sweats and I am considering two herbals remedies: Agnus Castus or Black Cohosh...
The problem is I am not sure how long to take them for, how long a break can you have before taking them again. To be honest I just thought that you could take them regualarly without a break until you felt you no longer needed them. Anyone got any good advice on the recommended doseage, the length of time you can take them for and when you do have a break, when can you start to take them again?
All advice welcome
Thanks
Sharon

It's always better to take estradiol (the natural form of oestrogen, not the horse urine kind like Premarin, Prempro, etc.) in the form of a skin patch. Tablets have to go through your liver and can cause complications. Patches are so much easier, too.
I use the Estradot or Vivelle Dot plus natural progesterone cream or gel, which is critical to balance the oestrogen. For some reason, NHS doctors can only give you synthetic progesterone, which I believe was partly responsible for the HRT health scare. Strangely, they do prescribe natural progesterone to treat infertility. So either go private or buy it online. I use ProGest. It's the imbalance of hormones that that is dangerous not oestrogen. Most doctors don't seem to know this, which shocks me.

She interviewed a dozen anti-aging and hormone experts, doctors and researchers. Then decide for yourself (and maybe copy a few pages for your doctor!)

I've taken nothing for menapause and that terrible itching still whacked me. It lasted for two months and I was like a mangy cur. No rash, just an itch that was so intense, I was Ballou the Bear in the Jungle Book, rubbing my back against door jambs and wishing I had a palm tree for a back scratch!! My long suffering partner scratched me all over morning noon and night. It drove me insane. I'm coming back as a man in my next life.
