i have been on the pill, brevinor, for a few years now (i'm 25) and have had very few, if any, problems with it. before that i tried various different pills, including the mini-pill, none of which agreed with me.

however for the past 3 or 4 months, on the first day of each new pack after my 7 day break, i feel really sick. i take it last thing before i go to sleep, so wake up either in the night or in the morning feeling sick to my stomach.

i wasn't too worried, as usually it would only last 2-3 hoursbut last month i actually vomited in the morning. i went to the nurse for my pill check, and told her about this and she said it was nothing to worry about, also my periods seem to alternate (this is a bit graphic) from being heavy, and bright red, and then the next month very light and a kind of browny colour... she also said not to worry about this. (?)

anyway, i put it out of my mind but last night was day 1 again, and i woke up in the night feeling ill, and this morning as soon as i sat upright i was rushing to the bathroom. i was vomiting every 15-20 minutes between 11am and about 3pm... i felt dizzy and weak and couldn't keep down a little mouthful of water, let alone think of eating. feel ok now but still can't eat, just really tired andleft with a splitting headache which i suspect is from being sick so many times.

i'm sure this can't be normal like she said? as it appears to be getting worse and surely something that can make me be so violently sick so many times can't be doing me any good!! goodness knows what will happen next month... i'm not sure whether to take the next pill tonight or to just stop taking it altogether and go back to nurse, or see the doctor. i'm not sexually active at the moment so it wont be a problem to stop taking it for a while, i only continue out of habit and because it keeps my periods regular and less problematic. am just worried about messing up my cycle if i stop after one day.

anyway... has anyone experienced anything similar? i'm slightly worried. i know it's the pill that caused it, i didnt eat anything funny... i dont drink or smoke or anything else. and on the nurse's advice, i didnt take it on an empty stomach.

any advice would be appreciated... i'm pretty stuck as to what to do. i have looked it up online and haven't come back with much.

thank you
sarah

Hello feathers

I'm quite surprised no one has replied to you as yet. The best advice I can offer is to suggest you see your doctor as soon as possible, since presumably he/she would have prescribed this brand in the first place? No disrespect intended to the nurse, but she may not have the training necessary to make the correct diagnoses.

At best a guess, since I am not medically trained, but from what you say, I would doubt that stopping the tablets would do you much harm if taking them is making you so ill.

I hope you get to see your GP and feel better very soon 🙂

Hi Feathers,

Only just noticed your post.

I was having the same sort of problem a few years ago. Feeling really sick after taking my pill, but only for the first few days of a new pack. I never actually vomited, but the feeling of nausea was really horrible.
I decided to go back to the docs, and he suggested switching to another brand. I did, and have had no further problems.

I would go back and see the G.P. (not the nurse), and ask his opinion. He may switch your brand, or he may suggest taking you off the pill for a while.

Hope this helps

RE: the pill - side effects

Hi, from personal experience, and experience of friends, the only type of contraceptive pill that doesn't have side effects in as many people is the POP pill - and Cerazette specifically.

I'm not a doctor, but I had massive weight gain from the pill I was on before, my one friend had massive bleeding during her periods from the pill she was on before (she ahd to take a pill break to allow for periods), and my other friend had stomach cramps from the pill she was on before. None of us have had side effects on this pill - and you don't have to stop the pill to have periods either (which is a bonus!)

I'm afraid I don't know whether it'll help you with your sickness, and maybe you're on this pill already!
