I have been on the pill (microgynon 30), for about a year now.. all of a sudden my withdrawal bleeds have become lighter (the past 3 months that have been like this) I have been getting random cramps, feeling bloated and tired with sore breasts all most all the time :(.. I at first thought that I might be pregnant so I took a test ..it was negative I have taken 3 all together all have come back negative. How likely is it that 3 tests are wrong? I'm really worried. 😮

why not see your doctor? or go to a well woman's clinic...
it could be a reaction to the pill you are on (allergies can pop up out of nowhere) or something else... don't let the problem persist.

It's unlikely that three test are wrong, but if you're still worried go to your GP, pharmacist or local Brook Advisory Centre.

I was on microgynon years back, I was so light I thought here comes menopause! It may be a side effect of the pills, have a word with your GP and he or she should be able to advise you and give you a check (and put your mind at rest).

I will try and get an appointment at the docs for next week. Can it take a year for the pill to give side effects?

Am I just being paranoid? 😮

Hiya

I couldn't take Microgynon for long: I had bloating, huge breasts (which never really left me ) and temper tantrums!

It's always possible your body has changed and what you used to be able to take is now not suiting you as much. Perhaps you could discuss with your doc other pills, for there are loads!

I was told by my Dr. that it takes up to 6 months for the pill to have complete effect. Which is why if you take it short term eg to avoid a period whilst on hols, you can get all sorts of side effects- cramps etc.
I had similar symptoms to you when I was on that type 20 years ago but only realised it when I came off it and began to feel "normal" again.
I should go back to your Dr.

Maybe I can get my pill changed then. 🙂

Is it unlikely that I'm pregnant as my last withdrawal bleed contained some clots? 😮

Does having a withdrawal bleed containing stringy clots eliminate my chances of being pregnant? 😮

Hi Devil Bunny,

Don't worry about the clots and light periods- all perfectly normal reactions to taking the pill, and yes things can start to change, even after a year. They won't affect your chances of becoming pregnant should you come off the pill.

You sound really concerned, and as others have suggested, I would definitely recommend seeing your GP/visiting a Well Woman clinic as soon as you can, even if it's just to ease your mind.

Hi there, At the beginning of last year (after being on a light-dosage pills for the previous 9 years) i started having breast tenderness and generally was uncomfotable, luckily not as severe symptoms as Devil Bunny. Finally decided to come off the pill in August, and haven't really looked back..... i also realised i had been slightly depressed when on the pill. Anyway, luckily I have been fine, and consult regularly with my gynae.

Now though, I am realising that I do have a problem with hormonal imbalance (hence the reason i first went onto the pill) and am now looking for a natural way of increasing oestrogen in my body, to help normalise menstruation as well as very oily skin and hair (a result of the hormonal imbalance).

Does anyone know of a natural oestrogen booster?

Thank you

I was on that pill for years in my twenties, and i never had an ounce of trouble, my periods were regular, 4 days same time each month, i would say i had the perfect period with it.
Once i came off it though it all went down hill, probably to do with age to.
But if i was having problems i would have come of it right away, best to get one that suits...
