Hi everyone,
I have had very painful periods and a swollen stomach for over 2 years. Twice before I went to my GP but was told it was nothing to worry about.
I went back again last week in awful pain and I am going for an ultrasound scan tomorrow, a new GP thinks it is fibriods.
My stomach is now very swollen and I look about 5-6 months pregnant.
I am 36 and want to have children in the future.
I looked for natural cures and have been taking blackstrap molasses and apple cider vinegar for a week as a forum I saw said it may shrink them.
I have also cut out all dairy from my diet and am not having any refined sugar or salt or alcohol.
I am a vegetarian and read today iodine may help.
Has anyone on here got any suggestions? I know I should wait till the scan results but I am very worried and thought it can't hurt to try other natural remedies.
I will post the scan results when I get them, but if anyone has anything to suggest in the meantime I'd really appreciate it.
thanks.
It does infuriate me that so many symptoms are dismissed as 'normal'. now it seems your problem has grown! It does indeed sound as if you have fibroids.
I would suggest you look at Marilyn Glenville's website here - she specialises in womens problems and I trust her implicitly. She has written several books with masses of scientifically-based information for sufferers.
We tend to approach these things by looking at all the things your body needs and making sure it has those, before bringing anyhting new into the mix.
We also consider any sources of stress and toxicity, and these can be many and varied, but we start with the obvious.
And we also must consider other obstacles to healing - mechanical systems of the body can become disorganised, causing disruption to the fluid mechanincs of the various organs involved.
And we look for clues in other organs - one region of the body can be in trouble but is coping by robbing resources from other areas - and there are patterns to these relationships.
Putting all of this together takes a proper consultation in person, I'm afraid.
But in terms of self-help I would start by getting a blood test for levels of vitamin D as many of us are mildly or even severely deficient. It is amazing what even a week or two of going on a sunbed can do. But if you get your D from tablet then you must get the levels checked, otherwise there is no way to know if you are taking too little or too much.
And vitamin D is not the only thing going on here, but as said before, consider the obvious first. In a way, the actual diagnosis may be irrelevant when we consider what is actually going to help your situation improve.
Good luck!
Thanks Caroline and kvdp, the website link is a wealth of info.
The vitamin D is a great suggestion too because I got psoriasis around the same time my stomach started swelling. Vitamin D is meant to help psoriasis I did ask my GP if a sunbed might help but he said it wouldn't.
I will try it now though, they sky is always so grey where I live!
Well, I hope that does help. In return, would you let us know? I am trying to gather as much feedback as possible from this sort of information.
Remember that after going on a sunbed not to wash with soap for several hours, otherwise you wash the vitamin D away before it is properly assimilated into your system. Better to avoid oils and lotions, as the salon may try to sell you these. Perhaps something to keep the rays off the lips would be a good idea, but petroleum based sun-oils can do as much harm as good.
And consider the other areas as well - if it was just vitamin D then everyone who was deficient would have the same problem.
Best wishes, K
It's not fibroids, the guy who did the scan said it's an ovarian cyst measuring 18 cms 🙁 I have to go back to my GP tomorrow to get more info. I am frightened of surgery, I hope there's a better way to shrink it.

Let's say that stranger things have happened!
