I'm at my wits end. I'm totally fed up. No-one believes me that I'm suffering and I've been for test after test and they find nothing. But something isn't right and I want it to get sorted.
4 years ago I started bleeding really heavily and it continued to 6 weeks. I mentioned it to the nurse who said that is just sometimes happens. I had a few tests done but nothing conclusive. Since then I've bled for 3 out of the 4 weeks of my cycle. Mostly spotting, the odd gush mostly inconvenient. Mood swings like you wouldn't believe (I become really horrible around the time I ovulate and again a few hours before I start my period). I can only tell I'm on my period by my bad mood, and I count my days really carefully.
I was eventually referred to a consultant who arranged an ultrasound scan didn't find anything and suggested that I come off the pill. I've been off the pill for 3 years and my spotting has lessened however it was still there and my periods were all but non-existent (half a day of bleeding and that is it). I had a biopsy taken from my cervix early on this year, and another ultrasound after I complained to my GP again. She thought she felt a fibroid. The cervix result came back clear thank goodness and the ultrasound showed nothing. I was again discharged without knowing what is happening to me or a solution, other than going on the pill/injection. (after telling me to come off it in the first place).
About 6 weeks ago I thought I'd try the pill again and within two weeks of starting it the bleeding returned and I haven't gone one week since without a bleed/spotting.
Its ridiculous, I'm totally fed up of not being believed that this isn't right. I'm so sick of the GP and consultants vaguely looking at me and then not doing anything. I'm on anti-depressants to control my mood swings but I'm more depressed that my body won't work the way its supposed to.I'm basically avoiding sex due to spotting randomly, which is doing nothing for a marriage in its first few years and should still be a honeymoon period.
I'm just finding this just so distressing. Every time I spot I cry. I'm 32 and beginning to wish for the menopause so all this will stop.
I'm just wanting to get this off my chest because it hurts me so much, but if anyone has any suggestions I would really appreciate it.

I had a client with very similar problem as yours. I used to do EFT back then. It was sorted with such ease
Like to share a few things
1. You say you meticulously count your days. Just take into account how much focus attention and energy that it takes.
2. You have an expectation that your body should behave in a certain way and you feel angry/frustrated as a result of your body not obliging you. Body does its own thing not only with you but with the wisest of us. It never asks anyone their permission to get sick, have a cold etc It just does it. The best way to deal with body is as a friend. It gets over whatever it is that needs to happen if you cooperate
3. An occasional spot of bother! why let it spoil your honeymoon? Why give it so much power?
You are finding it distressing as you are blaming your body for what it is doing. Don't even start analysing why it is doing it.(thats another rabbit hole, stay away!) Just accept the wisdom of it. Relax into it. Be compassionate. It will come good.
Fluctuating moods-That client was pre empting those moods by counting the days and then expecting that during such and such days her mood is such and such. It is a vicious circle. Fly off a tangent. Stop taking any notice. Seasons of body, just like seasons in life. Be prepared so it doesn't embarrass you but take all the psychological preparation away from it. In other words do what you have to do and let the body do what it needs to do.
Out of this attitude a great relaxation will arise.
Thanks for that. I will give the EFT a try I think, if only to bring my stress/anxiety level down.
I've just had a sob at the husband and I'm going to stop the pill again, as it has made things worse.
What annoys me the most about all of this is that the GP and nurses solution to a problem like this is to stick you on the pill, even though in my case its obviously aggravating it and making it worse. They've now suggested the injection to stop my periods all together, but that doesn't seem natural (not that taking the pill is natural). I'd really like my proper cycle to return and the stress and my worrying about this is not helping, but its really difficult not to worry about it.

Hi, if you can let go of the idea of what you think is 'proper' the body will function much better. Embrace the wayward, normalcy is hiding just underneath it. You can detach your self to a degree from what the body is doing.
If you can worry, you can relax! It is about you, not the body.
Hi,- Healthy Pages is a 'complementary health and holistic resource'.-Rest assured that there will be a complementary therapy that can help you. You don't need to suffer in this way.
Although as a homeopath, I am obviously biased towards homeopathy, my best advice to you is to have a look online or elsewhere, at the various therapies available and choose one that seems to make sense and attracts you. Then contact an appropriate therapist, check his/her qualifications and preferably have a preliminary (free) chat to see if they think their therapy might benefit you. Most practitioners are happy and used to doing this before you book an appointment. Choose someone that you feel at ease with.
You will need to pay for the treatment unless you have some insurance that covers it (many health insurances do these days) and so you should ask about the costs. I'm sorry that the NHS hasn't helped more but what price can we put on our health? It might just be the time to look elsewhere now. HTH Hom
Look up the symptoms of vitamin K deficiency, there may be something there.
Also likely you are deficient in Vitamin D at the same time, so perhaps go on a supplementation programme to ensure you are getting all your basic nutrients.
Then consider the function of the bowel - when the usual organs of elimination are struggling, this can cause other less well-known organs of elimination to take over some of the work.
And if you are on any medications you haven't mentioned, have a good read of the leaflets and check for listed side-effects.
Good luck!
Thanks for the responses, I used to have reflexology regularly for my migraines and that had amazing results, so will look at that as my first point I think and extend alternative therapies from there. I'm willing and open to try anything that will benefit my current situation.
I did start taking: Evening Primrose, Cod liver oil, Agnus Castus and Folic acid which did improve things a bit but I'm a bit forgetful on taking them so don't take them regularly enough.
I'm only on the progesterone only pill (now stopped since last night) and anti-depressants currently, but think a good regular dose of supplements won't do me any harm at this point in time.
I have recently moved so I may see if the NHS up here will take me seriously and find what is going on. Looking at various sites I have symptoms of a fibroid, and the previous gp who referred me could feel what she thought was a fibroid even though it didn't show up in an ultrasound. I would rather not wait until its at a size that then requires surgery to get it sorted.
I'm going to keep a food diary for a little while to see what my diet is like, I don't think its too unhealthy.
Thanks all. What your advising me is something for me to investigate. Hopefully I can get myself into a place or either accepting this as normal for me or finding the cause so that I can work on a cure.

Meadowsweet, may I direct you to Marilyn Glenville's site for lots of information about women's problems generally and heavy periods in particular. There are several reasons for this problem and she may well offer some answers, eg fibroids.
Do hope you get answers soon.

Thanks Caroline,
That is one of the sites I have been looking at and the following symptom is what I'm experiencing basically:
Other women can experience periods that go on for weeks, sometimes with no real break between one period and the next
.
I'm going to give the supplements a go.
Thanks again all

I can honestly say I know how you feel, when it happened to me I was 20, midway through my first year at uni, I started with heavy periods that became continual and incredibly painful, I would spend hours a day rolling around the floor in the most unimaginable pain, it lasted over a year and I can honestly say that I would have handled it a damn site better if I had had a doctor who's brain cells were'nt so far stuck up their over inflated egos. I know it sounds obvious but have you been checked for aneamia, because from what I can gather that may also add to the extra shows your having and cause the mood fluctations, basically adding weight to the problems you already have, when your iron counts low you really don't know whether your on your arse or your elbow! No one even thought to check me and it seems so stupid not to have been checked that this would be a possible side effect, although not a cause .
I really hope you managed to get things sorted.
Hi blinkinbubbles.
Do love the name. 🙂
Well I came off the pill beginning of December and within a week my bleeding stopped. I'm now actually struggling to determine whether I'm due a period yet or not. lol
I've had a full blood works done and I'm not anaemic thankfully. One of my sex hormones levels were a bit off but a 2nd blood test showed it back to normal.
Who know's what is causing this, I've given up with the GP's and consultants. Its something I will sort as it occurs now until I get some other symptoms where I can go back to the GP for them to investigate again.
Thank you for your suggestion, it is something I will keep an eye on. Just in case. 🙂
I sympathise as I went through this during my teens and my GP wanted to put me on the pill but, I refused. Things didn't actually get better until I had my first child!! Since then, I turned to homeopathy and although I didn't have a reoccurance of the problem (so I assume it was some kind of hormone imbalance and pregnancy rectified it), I have had some success with other people with different types of menstrual problem by using a Narayani remedy called Female Balance. The remedy Sepia may also help but, it would be worth going for a consultation with a homeopath and may sort the problem out permanently.
Hope you feel better soon.
Hi Annax,
Thank you for the suggestion. I don't know whether I will ever have children, I would love to but my husband is against the idea so I'm letting nature take her course. One locam GP I saw did suggest that having a baby could rectify the issue (husband didn't like that idea).
Will try the suggestions and see how I get on.
