Hi all,

I wondered if anyone had used this or knows of anyone who has? I've been on HRT for almost a year and do not like the weight gain that goes with it. A nurse friend of mine told me about this cream that you put on which stops the hot flushes etc. my friend has osteoporosis in her family so takes it for that. this friend also lent me a book on natural menopause and they go on about the benefits of progesterone cream too. if it's that wonderful, how come so few know about it? I've just bought some out of curiosity and if it means i can come off HRT then brilliant!

Christina- I'm a homeopath and treat menopausal women with homeopathic remedies- which are very different from the hormonal preperations that you're talking about, so I'm not actually qualified to talk on the subject!
However, I do have Marilyn Glenville's book, 'The New Natural Alternatives to HRT' and there's a whole chapter entitled 'natural' progesterones.-Too much to go into here but it seems that even the cream isn't as 'natural' as you might think. Also, it in no way replaces what HRT's doing- if that's what you want. She ends her chapter by suggesting that whilst eostrogen dominance is thought to be linked to breast cancer, so is that of progesterone.
I'm not saying that everything she says must be correct and there's certainly so much information out there, for most of us to be thoroughly confused. But I think personally, it's dangerous ground to be playing around with any hormonal stuff (I'd include HRT) whereby we're adding hormones into the body, when naturally they wouldn't be there, because we just don't know the consequences.
It's a dilemma- sorry to be so negative. Hom

progesterone cream

i have been using this cream for a year now and i cant exist without it. combined with the addition of soya foods one of which is a loaf i make and have 2 slices a dy, i now have no hot flushes my skin has cleared up, my energy has returned and the migraines gone. all in all i feel a totally different person, a year ago i was miserable, irritable and confused. with a lot of reading and researching i have found my own solution to a very common and natural problem amongst 45 + women.take a look at china the women do not suffer as we do as they eat a diet high in soya,i can definitely say it does make a difference, and the cream does too.
hope this is not too late , your probably sorted by now. :p

Hello Both, thanks for your responses. the book my friend lent me is called Passage to Power by Leslie Kenton. It's a bit heavy in places as is quite technical. I can see that what she says makes sense in that progesterone production drops off from about the age 35+ whereby oestrogen doesn't. so when we get given more oestrogen in the form of HRT we in effect overdose on it as there is much of this hormone in foodstuffs, water etc too. It says in this book - as well as on the prog cream's website that it (progesterone) speeds up our metabolism amongst other things and it's the weight gain i've experienced with HRT that I dislike the most.

I tried to come off HRT about a month ago, but i did it cold turkey - which turned out to be a big mistake, now i'm slowly weaning myself off it. i've just bought some cream - which is entirely natural. i did a lot of research on the net along with advice from my nurse friend and chose a particular supplier becuase of the source of the progesterone is completely natural.

it's worth a go anyway - watch this space!
