Hello All,
whilst taking a shower I found a small hard lump under my right arm pit. I had this before and it was a infected hair folicle and it was pretty painful. This is not painful but only slightly tender to touch . Does anyone think this is something to worry about. I do find that certain deodourants cause an itching or a sore feeling sometimes but any lumps or irritation normally go very quickly.

A worried Oggy

RE: I found a lump !

Hiya Oggy,

Please try not to worry but u would go and see a doc as soon as possible just to be on the safe side and to put your mind at rest. It could be anything, a infected hair folicle , lymp nodes...a reaction to a deodourant and so on...

Try not to worry about it, i had a small lump under my armpit and another down on the side of my breast last year, i was worried sick but turned out to my lymp nodes, like i said though do go see a doc, just to be on the safe side,

let us know how u get on

Love Fiona:)

Yes I agree with the others and please don't worry feels like lymph nodes could do with a clear out recommend you see a massage therapist that does lymphatic drainage as well as seeing the doc.

Dear Oggy[&:]
I agree 🙂 definitely time to seek prof. medical advice here 😉
Just DON'T panic though ... as anything & everything IS CURABLE anyway 😀
Then, whatever the outcome ... always seek a 2nd opinion 😉
Love and prayers,

RE: I found a lump !

Hello All,
thanks for the support. I have noticed that the lump is much smaller today I will keep an eye on it and visit the GP if it does not go away.

Thanks again,

Hi Oggy,

Glad to hear it looks better.. though, I would advise against deoderants and anti-perspirants.. applying these toxins onto your skin is a risky business.. its so easily absorbed (as easy as a nicotine patch)... blocking your pores, blocking your body from sweating - which despite what media would have us believe, is a natural occurence!.. and where do all these toxins and redirected sweat end up...? well, you get the picture...

You could always switch to the natural-salt one, or go without and just use a bit of essential oil.. that's what I do.. and no complaints yet!

Blessings

RE: I found a lump !

Hi Oggy,

It would be prudent to stop your use of any aluminium-containing deodorants. This includes such types as the "deodorant stone", which are sold as "natural" alternatives.

The science bit (skip if bored :)): Most deodorants contain aluminium compounds similar to aluminium chlorohydrate and the "natural" crystal brands contain "alum", which is aluminum ammonium sulfate dodecahydrate.

The main difference between the two is that alum is not absorbed through the skin whereas aluminium chlorohydrate is.

Nontheless, all you need to absorb alum is a cut in the skin (from shaving for instance). I tried these crystal brands for myself and had a small cut under an armpit..... and it stung to high heaven!

Once absorbed, aluminium compounds travel around the body and may penetrate the blood-brain barrier. If you use fluoride toothpaste, the aluminium in your bloodstream combines with the fluorine from your toothpaste to form aluminium fluoride (AlF3), which is potently toxic.

Aluminium has been found in high concentrations within the brains of people suffering from Alzheimer's disease as well as in tumours removed from breast cancer patients.

While this is not meant to alarm you, it is meant as a pointer to better health in future. There are herbal deodorants out there, although they are hard-to-find.

I'm sure someone on the forum can point you in the right direction, but if you still can't get your hands on any then please drop me an email 🙂

Love & light,
Jamie

Hi Oggy,

Glad you're lump is getting smaller - they can be so painful under the armpit.

Forever Living Products do a deodorant which is free from Aluminium Salts. Good quality and 100% natural. A net search should find them easily enough.

Good luck with it

RE: I found a lump !

Hello all,
just to let you all know the lump has gone. I am sure it was a blocked pore. Thank you for your concern and good advice. I am certainly looking for alternative deodourants that are more natural.

Cheers,
Oggy xxx

RE: I found a lump !

That's great Oggy, really pleased for you.

Having been on the receiving end of 4 ops myself to remove lumps I know how worrying they can be.

I now use Aluminium salts free deodorant coz the last op showed the lumps were borderline and very aggressive - apparently! (I must admit, when the consultant said that to me my very over active imagination pictured a lump jumping out and ranting at the surgeon! - funny how nerves / fear affect people eh?)

Anyway, well done - excellent news.

Have a good day
