Hi

I have been considering coming off the contraceptive pill for a while now and I was just wondering if people experience any bad side effetcs from coming off it?

My main worry is that my skin will go really bad and then I can't sort it out. I have been on the pill for 7 years now since I was 16 and I just feel as though I need a break. Plus I would prefer it if my body could get into its own natural ryhthm than using the synthetic hormones in the pill

It would be really nice to hear of other peoples experiences 😀

Hiya Littlenat

When I came off the Pill, my periods went a little scatty for a while, then I got hit my acne something bad, so I took a 6 months break then went back one, again when I took a break I got the same probs, so went back on it for 2 months. Come off, no acne whatsoever, but my periods are ever so painful. Been off it for 2 years now, and I only suffer with the monthlys.

But everyone is different hun, you may find you get no probs whatsoever.

Angel x

I think I might risk it, lol! Like you did, I can always go back on. I just want to do things more naturally

Thanks xxx

It might be advisable to consult your GP, or whoever prescribed it, before making any changes 😉

Hi Littlenat,

Coming off the pill was a really good decision for me - all the mood problems I had disappeared and my relationship with my boyfriend dramatically improved. However, it did take nearly a year for my periods to return (although the reason I finally ditched the pill was because the most recent brand I tried stopped me having periods altogether, so perhaps that was why it took so long for them to start again). I also get a sore belly around the begining of my period now, but its all natural so I don't mind (especially as I don't need anything stronger than paracetamol). I didn't have any other problems, like outbreaks of spots. I think it just differs from person to person. Good luck!

Thanks for the replies.

I think I will make an appointment with my GP so I can let them know and just hope for the best :002:

I am currently having no end of problems - but when I say that I mean I've gone straight back to how I was before since coming off!

I'm like Cozzy, I was getting all sorts of moodswings and had a complete lack of sex drive, after I came off the pill my periods were a bit irregular for a while but I felt a lot better in terms of my moods! There was no point being on the pill because it made me lose my sex drive! Yeah I get a little PMT now but I quite like it, it gives me an excuse to moan and feel sorry for myself for a few days a month!
