Hia Folks

Daughter tore her big toe nail, so she cut off the end, now it seems to be ingrowing, painful and her toe is red and puffy.

I have given her some painkillers this morning + sent her off to school. I will phone the Doctors later and see if I can get her in.

What will the Doctor do do you think?

I think she should wait til the nail grows a bit, whilst gently manipulating it so it doesnt continue to grow inwards.

Bit rushed for time at the moment, but no doubt this issue has been raised before + I will read up on it shortly.

Take her to the GP, as there may be infection - he/she will advise you on the best course of action. I went through something similar a long time ago, having been trodden on by a horse! Part of my big toe nail had to be trimmed off, and then it was 'packed' by a chiropodist on a weekly basis for about 6 weeks, which prevented ingrowing. Wasn't very pretty for a while, but the nail survived.

So, not a little horse then, and you WERE little!

My hubby talks of the time when horses were used here on the farm and Bess often refused to have her bridle put on and would just put her hoof gently on his foot to keep him pinned down!!

Glad the toe nail healed.
