Hello everyone, I have had a finger nail problem for a number of years now, and I have tried all types of remedies which dont seem to help yet. I did go to see my gp who took a sample to send off but nothing seemed to come from it. The gp refered me to a specialist who said he would need to take a peice of the nail off (an operation) to check, but I backed away from this, as I hate blood. The nails grow all funny shapes and look awful, they go white and then break off, but it does not effect three fingers. I may just keep trying remedies.
Without actually seeing your nails i really can't say much, but it could be a fungus of some sort.
Onychomycosis is one of the most common nail diseases that causes most abnormalities and seems to fit the bill (cloudy or yellow nails that get crumbly or break off and grow strangely)
some cheap (relatively) remedies to try include tea tree oil (my mother swears by the stuff... for everything) and grapefruit seed extract.
-Note: these are long term stuff, if you have a fungal infection it can take almost a year to get rid of all symptoms so whatever you decide, use it daily and stick to it for the long haul to see what happens.
- hope it helps and good luck
Many thanks for that. I was thinking of using Tea tree oil. However I also thought organic cider vinegar may help. I have tried Oil of cloves but this just seems to smell for days, and I dont like the smell.
Thanks again for your help.
That smell can be a bit persistent and intense. I have heard some good things about cider vinegar as another all around wonder remedy, but don't know much about it specifically, i would love to hear how that works out if you decide to try it.
good luck
