My pee is smelling like sugar puffs. But is this just because it's xmas and I've consumed too many Quality Streets?

Yup, that might do it, so would drinking too much coffee. If you are diabetic there might be other symptoms, and you can google those. Your GP would be more than happy to test your urine for sugar.

Thanks.

No I'm not a diabetic, as far as I'm aware, and I don't drink coffee, so the Quality Streets are the prime suspect. I just wanted to know if it is likely that the sweet smell and the amount of sweets I've consumed could be linked directly.

Is this because there is too much sugar in my system and it's being flooded out this way rather than being stored elsewhere?

Mine has done occasionally too. When I googled it,I found it was because of too much sugar.
Mine sometimes turns a fluorescent yellow but even my doctor said he's never heard of that and suggested I'd eaten too much pineapple or colourant in my food but I haven't eaten either of these things.

Mine changes colour when I take either vitamin c or a berocca 😀

The bright yellow colour is likely to be due to extra vitamin B intake, dark urine is a sign of dehydration.

Urine and breath smelling of pear-drops is a classic sign of diabetes and inability to process sugar. It is important to get any change in smell in urine tested - very easy with a urine sample and an indicator stick test with immediate results - the nurse can do this and refer you on if necessary to the GP. Changes in urine quality can be very indicative of health status.

Hmmm, I have occasionally taken berocca. I'll keep an eye on when I take it. My urine is never dark, always very light, except perhaps the first of the morning.

Are you pregnant?

My pee is smelling like sugar puffs. But is this just because it's xmas and I've consumed too many Quality Streets?

I've just been reading other forums where some women say they notice a sweet smell to thier urine when they first become pregnant (this reply would be oh so funny if you are a man, sorry).

I must admit I went through stages where my urine could have been bottled as perfume, sweet, floral smell emenating from the toilet bowl (I don't use toilet fragrance). That was a while ago but I have no major health issues, so it wasn't a problem.

Hormonal changes, change the smell of pee.
