advice/grumps/ hopes/ faith..
hi everyone, i went to see my MP at the weekend, as all the lack of understanding and knowledge of our nhs has really bugged me. I took evidence with me, what a waste of time. i was the last appt, he was running late and had never even heard of cortisol! i find it quite amazing that so many people havent a clue how and what makes their bodies function. of course, i only had 20 mins an d it wasnt long enough so i kinda babbled a bit as i wanted to get so much info out to him, consquently he said exasperated--- 'so you have a glandular problem that is not being addressed---- i will write to the health minister and N.I.C.E. AND SEE WHAT THEY SAY!!!!... i rest my case.! now,- i wonder if anyone can answer this for me. Years ago i saw lovely dr P, and i took his report of hypo adrenals to my endo who practically had apoplexy because i had dared to go see a caring doc! ( WHO LISTENED) and who was wise---however i couldnt continue as i couldnt get to where dr p was situated and had been able to get transport there,so i wasted 7 years at the nhs. now i am seeing dr M who has got a registration with the GMC, so if i took his report to my own GP- ho hum:rollaugh::rollaugh::rollaugh::rollaugh: or to my own endo just to prove that there is an adrenal malfunction, would it be legitimately accepted,-considering the meds he has put me on,, would this be ok or would it be better not to go tell them, any advice would be greatly accepted.:offtopic::grouphug:xxx
Hello Curtains,
Im sorry you felt that the trip to your MP was a waste of time. When i started to research this subject of underactive thyroid i felt alittle out of my depth and overwhelmed my all the info out there. I have tried to take the info and work with my doctor and hopefully by doing so will get the right result in the end. Have your thought about joining a thyroid group where you might be able to share your research and your passion for getting the truth out there?
Sending you a big hug 🙂

Yellow urine
I have just found this and has answer my question re yellow urine:-
There is one notable side effect of most vitamin B complex products. Yellow urine. Sometimes, neon yellow urine. The tint in the urine is caused by excess riboflavin (vitamin B2).
Little bit of info would have been helpful if told whislt buying vitamins:)

thyroidresearch/thyroid support.
hi rachel, ok update... i receievd a letter back from my MP--- he has written to andrew lansley cbe mp=the secretary of state at the dept of health, ' to raise with him your (my) concerns about how the nhs operates in this area ( well its every flipping area!!! - 'and how they are treating people with thyroid and adrenal gland problems', he added 'i hope that by doing this I (himself) will have been able to raise this issue at the most senior level within the department of health an di would be happy to pas on the reply to you ( me). so, rachel we will see, but i thnk it would be a good idea if we all somehow got together and did a mass exodus of letters to the dept of health with all our experiences and what we think of the dreadful way we are expected to live our normals lives when we are 'dead people walking'. if we were all do do this then maybe it would begin to change the way the crap education of endocrinologists are taught and whatt they are taught, -we ,-out here in the real world all know and learn and read more than than they do and they get a handsome wage for keeping us all ill!!! its just not right we are a 'band of brothers' and we should raise as much mayhem as posilble, I just HATE injustice with a vengence. I am on a mission to cause as much attention about this lack of treatment as i can , its not just a question of well take the thyroxine and you SHOULD feel better--- they hate the word T3--- and even then if your adrenals are low another reason why your body wont respond to t3,... my friend
as just come back from dear ol dr P, thats her problem too... i can say goodbye to about 20 years of my life, my career of a complementary therapist which iloved-- and any relationship that i may have been able to have, being divorced, i never felt well enough to even think about going out and forming any relationships, it robbed me of my confidence too, most of my abundance of hair has gone over the years and whats left is so thin and sparse i cannot do anything with, i generally wear a beany hat or headscarf but hey its gets boring, i want my follicles to expand on my head, they dont have a problem on my face!:006: the bags under my eyes are like suitcases, i spent 4 hours in accident and emergency last night , my right eye just swelled, the vitrius fluid the jelly like stuff inside the eye was protruding out wards it was so painful like needles going into my eye ball, the sweling got worse in thehosp waiting room and the 'bag' underneath was the 'mother of all bags'--- the skinned has strectched so much i nee d plastic surgery, i just look like a gargoyle, i suppose i could get a part time job as a gargoyle to save for the surgery:confused::011:-- anyway the doc was really cool, it said that is 'chemasis'? have i spelt it right, or something like that , when the insides swell due to allergy-- in my book---( i have very low adrenal function( dr mouton) confirmation and i have known this for years as i had saliva tests at intervals and it alsways show hypo adrenal function--- so in my book .. lack of cortisol -becos cortisol controls histamine. and stops the swelling before it swells---hey ho!! he gave me a one off dose of steriod--- i said not a word,--- i just waited to see if he would say the magic word ---prednisolone) yeah man!!! he did!!! but only one shot--- this is what i think i need and more of becos my adrenals are so low its no wonder i do not feel well on thyroid hormone alone-becos i need cortisol to get the t3 in my cells. dr mouton has put me on a very low dose of meds to make my bod produce what it should- due to the poor situation i go back in august to see him, i took pictures of my bulging eye last night. i should be used to these eye sewllings but hey its getting on my 'nerve' now and i have only one left ( nerve) and that is on holiday!!! i think all my nerves are done and dusted my God they have been twitching and tingling for over a year now 24/7:007: well i am off to take my bucket of pills and rache, you could try www. nutri.co.uk they do a good selection of thyroid supports- vits, minerals and support etc.:hidesbehindsofa: one day when i am well i will emerge from behind this sofa.... take care ,love to all... curtains. xx

rachel i forgot,---yes i have been with thyroid uk for 12 /13 years now, i gained so much info from them oh dear what taboo when i took my findings to my endo....need i say more! thats how i first new of dr. p and dr. s ( who i wanted go see in birmingham and had a row with my doc cos she wouldnt give me a referral,- i also looked up -suite 101, merck, dr goodheart, dr james wilson brilliant and dr lam.. brilliant---beleive me i have reserched for about 7 years now, obviously i dont understand the x y = chromosomes &*%$()*( scientific stuff but i know the pretty basics that make common sense. for instance i went on www.netdoctor. and read about adrenal glands.. it says-- a morning cortisol should be 500ml i think its 'ml'-- but anyway at the height of my ( adrenal crash) which is what i had---- mine was 471, all my saliva tests come back low cortisol morning noon afternoon and highest but still low at night but its suposed to be low at night to sleep and i dont produce melotonin either to make me sleep but anyway-- i have printed of that 'net doc page' simply becos i asked my local endo why do they measure blood hormones an dtake it as gospel when half of it is useless becos its bound by proteins and not available for cell use, wheras insaliva it measues only the free amount available for use--- he muttered that 'they used to use 'this method years ago but'---!!! but what? who stipulated that it is is wrong and why? i amprinting off that page for 'my evidence folder'- next step i shall ring the daily mail, 'this morning' tv, and panarama etc. i know what its like having been in hosp with adrenal crash and violently vomiting with low blood pressure 97 systolic and nausea, fainting diahorrhea all the classic sysmptoms of adrenal crash but no one picked it up , they did three blood test s and decided that i was depressed and anxious and should see a 'shrink; i told caroline this and that i was also called a hypocondriac, she was very cross at their attitudes and the way we are treated. Caroline would be a good leader for this crusade i will have to persuede her. when i research the internet i am considered a weirdo by my doc /endo but if no-one helps then what are we suppoed to do sit down ( on the sofa) and take it, well we have to while we are ''dead' but when slightly resurected, the fight back begins and i am not taking this crap lightly:mad:... for all those suffering out there who cant look up/ understand etc. the brigade is here!!!:) love nhugs...xx
Thankyou for your up date
Hello Curtains,
Thankyou for your post and update. Im really happy just doing my own research and working with my doctor and herbalist at the moment. I have only been told i have a underactive thyroid in the last couple of months and so its early days for me. I feel very much in charge of my health and my healing journey and do not feel the need to follow you on your quest, i do wish you the very best.
I have just recently learnt the Theta healing system and this has given me so much more insight to how we can heal our self. So at the moment i just need to focus on me and working with the herbs and vitamins and minerals.
All the best for the furture,
Love and light,
Rachelx
Hi there,
I was diagnosed with Hypothyroidism last spring, so I decided to find a practitioner that could help. I found a fab acupuncturist Tim Sullivan www.incantations.info he discussed with me adrenal fatigue due to my personal situation. It fitted like a glove, so we treated the adrenal fatigue and I made some changes with regards to how I was coping with the stress, I dropped anything that wasn't necessary and changed my attitude to quite a number of things. After 4 months of intensive change, letting go, acceptance and treatment all returned to normal.
Cheers, Sue
hi girls
hi rachel, i completely understand what you are saying, i have had to do my own research too, i suppose because i have read so much and learned how many people suffer without help that i do tend to jump on the soap box:) i just hate to think that others suffer, feeling its about time we had a change in the way the medical profession treats us. yes it is early days for you so i hope you continue to feel and get well. wishing you love and light to i will look into the theta healing. Being a therapist myself looking at it from a spiritual point of view, things happen for a reason , its when it gets really bad that the 'material ' feelings come up and take over.. anyway heres to good health. take care xx
Hello Curtains,
I do understand the need for many doctors and other medical peeps...being trained in more depth to manage and fully understand thyroid problems. However so many still seek relief by taking the pill that will take away the problem..rather than looking deeper and seeing the whole picture. I am grateful i have the knowledge to do just that:) It must be frustrating for those that dont actually realise that there is always an alternative way to take care of ones health and manage their our care plans or work along side orthodox medicine. Its so empowering taking charge of ones health and all the wonderful and amazing things you learn along the way.
Many blessing,
Rachelx

I have now brought Patrick Holfords book "the optimum Nutrition bible along with Prescription for nutritional healing by phyliss a balch, cnc" I would still love to hear from anyone who hasw some sound knowledge of the correct vitamin and mineral intake for peeps who have a underactive thyroid:)
Im currently taking Enchanced 75 Multi Vit min 1 aday
L-Tyrosine 1 x 500mg a day
Zinc Citrate 2 x 17.1mg aday
Plus my herbal mix which is:-
Withania somnifora
Bacopa monerii
Cynara scolymus
Taraxacum radix
Rosa damascena
I have another blood test due on the 14th August so it will be interesting to see what my levels are:)
I may ask the doctor to do a test for t3.....but i will have to explain why im reqesting it.
I was just wondering if there was a more effective way or making sure i have the right amount of vitamins and minerals? How reliable are the blood tests? or muscle testings? I might get my pendulum out and give that a go!

underactive thyroid
i wonder if anyone read the story about Gayle Coyler in the sunday mail a couple of weeks ago...12 years she was fobbed off, until she went to dr.peatfield. I know the feeling....... It tjust beggars belief of the refusal of the med profession in their lack of knowledge, and the fact that we know our own bodies but we are 'not allowed' to know them!!! -( our bodies and the way they work-or rather dont work)- and now she is well.. and she looks fantastic......unfortunatley for some such as myself with added problems of polycystic ovaries, disrupting insulin and glucose and low cortisol and low adrenal function, disrupting all other hormones male and female ,its a minefield, i am so glad Gayle is well, its very inspiring, there are not many docs like dr peatfield left now, which is very worrying....bless you DR. P, AND DR MOUTON AND THE FEW REMAINING DEDICATED DOCS.:):grouphug:
Hello Curtains,
Thanks for your link. Its so nice to read positive stories:)
I am in the process of reading one of Patrick holfords books and taking lots MORE minerals and vitamins plus herbs. I am taking so much stuff its unreal but im hoping in the long run i will not need to take throxine. I have another blood test due around the 14th August. I cant wait to see if there is any improvement for all the lotion and potions i have been taking.
Ive had some new results back from my heralist and the good news is i havent got candida :eek:but i do have low lactobacillae/bifidobacteria and dysbiosis. So more tablets to take now :rolleyes:If your not digestioning your food properly then the body will not function properly.
Many blessings,
Rachel Jessop
Along my research journey i have noted alot of books and information of the web contradict them self and half of my battle is knowing what doses of the minerals and vitamins i should take. For me it will be trial and error:)
I feel blessed i am able to take charge of my own healing journey and hope all my research and taking so many minerals and vitamins and herbs will pay off:)
