My last two smear tests have showed Candida and i was given nystatin which didn' t clear up the discharge i was getting. I Ignorantly thought it was some kind of mild thrush/yeast problem that would go away and have only just started looking into it as i have suffered from bloating and abdominal pain for years but now i have had a nasty snottycold every month this year that lasts for about 2 weeks and obviously my immune system must be very very low, I am now dosing myself up on zinc and vit c and drinking pure ginger and hot water but i would like to see a doctor. I have noticed that many people on this site have mentioned seeing a kinesiologist but do they just diagnose or do they offer treatment? Or do i just go and see a nutritionist to follow a candida diet? Your advice would be appreciated as i really need to get this sorted out. Thanks

RE: Candida- How to treat?

Having a miniscule amount of Candida in your system is not a problem. In fact, we all have a little bit in our bodies and a small amount is actually beneficial. This is because Candida behaves as a natural antibiotic and helps to control the growth of harmful bacteria in the body. It is a delicate system of checks and balances preventing Candida from taking control. Bathing or swimming (and ingesting chlorinated water), or using antibiotics, however, can destroy larger amounts of the bacteria, allowing the Candida to win the battle.
This is why constipation is one of the most common symptom. By killing off the healthy bacteria within your colon and the rest of your digestive system, the mucus, sludge, and other waste in your colon is not adequately broken down and moved through your digestive system. The fact thatCandida feeds off your body's nutrients also makes your digestive system less powerful and effective when it comes to removing waste.

RE: Candida- How to treat?

The condition can be improved with diet.

Cut out all wheat and yeast, so no bread - not even brown, pasta, marmite &cheese. Sugar agravates it so avoid putting it in yourhot drinksand cut out fizzy drinks and beers.

You can help it by taking pre and pro biotics (make sure the drinks have both) and increase your fiber to help flush internal oragns.

And with everything else that improves lifestyle - DRINK WATER! 2 liters is the RDA.

This is a very common condition, it can lead to yeast infections, swelling and bloating even increase the amout of wax your ears produce.

If anyone wants anymore info, please feel free to ask!

I Do!:D
Can you explain more about wheat and candida? I am aware of sugar and yeast exacerbating this condition, but was not aware of wheat. What does the wheat do that is bad?

Thanks!
Amethyst x

RE: Candida- How to treat?

The wheat proteingluten is very hard to digest, so it sits in the warm digestive organs which is the perfect breading ground for yeast. It also contributes to water retention and bloating - the two main side effects of candida.

If a client came to me, I'd also look at the causes of theircandida...

Here's a link to a good website

Sorry Kaylahk, I did not reply to your post correctly. Sadly, Like many other antifungals and antibiotics, nystatin is bacterial itself, so if the small dose did not work, it would only help the candida breed. The zinc and Vit C are good for immune systems, but the candida attacts the bacteria in your gut rather than the immune system itself.

Foods that will help are salads with raw salad vegetables such as celeryandpeppers etc to help detox. Vegetables that inhibit the growth of Candida: raw garlic, onions, cabbage, broccoli, turnip andkale.

Get Pro/prebiotic bacterial flora back into the system.Use natural no sugar yoghurt to help repopulate intestines. A mixture of yoghurt and two tablespoons of linseed can be a good way to start the day. Some dietary practitioners think the linseed can help 'scrape' the sticky residue from processed foods from the intestinal walls.

Another area that may be helpful is to perhaps eat smaller meals, chew your food well as digestion starts in the mouth.
You may add digestive enzymes that are available in health-food stores.

A kinestologist will only diagnose, you can go a nutritionist, but I'm sure they will tell you same as I have, and the Doc will only prescibe you more anti-fungal creams. By not changing your diet the condition will come back!
