hello every one
since my dad died, (even 2 weeks before that when he was in hospital) i developed this tight throat. it is like there is something stuck in my throat. i keep thinking i have cancer myself. it seems like when I am anxious it gets real bad. i went outside earlier to take a walk in the forest which i love, but ther ewas lots of people today cos the weather is beautiful today, and my anxiety level shot up. i felt sick , dizzy, headache, throat was tighht, had probelms swollowing, felt very anxious. kind of felt like my body was weak and i needed to lay down and rest but couldnt even if i lay down it was still there
now i am at home i am ok again. the tight throat is nearly gone
and i feel ok physically
has any one else experineced that before and is it anxiety or what? I am really scared i have cancer or something like that
thank you
p.s. if it is anxiety, how can i get rid of it? I have an anxiety disorder but no longer see psychiatrists, i do see a counsellor though. but i dont want to take medication if i dont have to
my anxiety is very bad - sometimes so bad that i have too keep running to the loo every 10 mins and sometimes i cant even make it to the loo.
how do i get rid of such anxiety?
RE: tight throat-anxiety?
My recommendation would be Hypnotherapy and / or Time Line Therapy, with the aim of unconciously dealing with the underlying cause of your anxiety.
I am sure that these would be extremely effective in your situation.
RE: tight throat-anxiety?
Out of interest I have just looked back at your last post, and see that many of the issues are still there 2 months later.
As permy reply thenI still believe that if you truely choose to live free from your past, taking the lessons fom the past, thenTime Line Therapy would relly benefit you.
Having said that, it is achoice you need to make, and I'm sure you will do what you feel is the best choice for you right now.
I believe that you have posted in this forum for a reason, and only you can decide whether the replies are somethng that you choose to take forward. Please listen to your intuition. You can overcome this.
RE: tight throat-anxiety?
I used to suffer from anxiety and what comforted and helped me feel secure was to know it was a psychological condition and not a physical one.
I used to feel I couldn't breath and as a result, I would over breath, feel like I couldnt reach my full lung capacity. It was horrid. I found Yoga a great help at calming me down, and reflexology.
Am sending you healing and calming thoughts.
Lots of love too (((((((:o))))))))))) xxx
RE: tight throat-anxiety?
Anxiety can be treated without medications with alternative therapies like biofeedback, acupuncture, cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT). These therapies are not the cheapest option, but if you can afford them and are reluctant to take meds they are worth a try. Progressive muscle relaxation technique can be practiced at home.
Chamomile, lemon balm, catnip, and passionflower are herbs with mild sedative and relaxing properties. Possibly you will find some useful [link= http://www.originaldrugs.com/anxiety.shtml ]ant-anxiety self-help tips[/link] here.
RE: tight throat-anxiety?
Hi there
After I had my first daughter I felt very anxious and low- my throat felt so tight like I had a lump in it. I went to a 2 day Jill purce chanting course- it was amazing and really helped me. As she went through the chakras, when she got to the throat I suddenly started crying my eyes out for ages- the rest of the chanting was amazing and it really helped my self-belief, and helped release the tightness in my throat. I was able to then express myself more and the tightness went.

RE: tight throat-anxiety?
Hi,
I know what you mean about the tight throat. I am the same when I am stressed or upset in some way. It is always an indication to me that I need to chill out. One thing I do is to get into my car, turn on the car radio and sing along with whatever is on the radio as I drive. It's better if you can do this as you go on a favourite drive along the coast or somewhere that you love.
I know this sounds simplistic but singing very loudly (sometimes I am so out of key, it is scarey!!) relaxes your throat. Music has always been a great destressor for me. Even singing silly songs from your childhood such as "ten men went to mow a meadow'. "Old McDOnald had a farm" or "ten green bottles" can help.
Good luck.
RE: tight throat-anxiety?
Hi,
I also have the sensation of a thight throat. It is there the majority of the time and means that I almost constantly have the impulse to swallow. Its been around since I was 16 or 17 (I'm now 25). I am not aware of a physiological cause although I do have a mile scoleosis in my cervical vertebrae which may have an effect on my throat. I believe the root cause is emotional, and to do with self-expression (or the lack of it). It almost feels like something is stuck there, and I feel this way generally about my life a bit too- that there is a barrier between me and the rest of the world. I have a feeling that I am playing a large part in keeping this barrier there, but I've no idea about how to start breaking it down.
Any advice?
Melissa
