I've just got back from holiday in Madrid and had a fantastic time, except for one thing (and if you're the sensitive type, you might want to look away now...).
I've been suffering on and off with soreness in the groin area and it's very painful. I'm not sure if it's friction caused by heat and sweat, or something else such as a fungal problem, but I've been getting sore in two places: between my scrotum and my thighs, and on the base of my scrotum. Sometimes I think it's gone away and then it suddenly starts hurting again. Today, it started in the former, then moved mysteriously to the latter. But either way, I end up walking like John Wayne after a day in the saddle to try to stop it hurting even more.
I've tried talc to dry any moisture, and Vaseline to prevent chafing. Today, on my return, I gingerly tried some tea tree oil, which may help but at the moment it's stinging like hell. It looks pretty red in the painful area.
I'm hoping my return to the UK, and it's cooler climate, will solve the problem, but has anyone got any suggestions?/ I've got to back to work tomorrow and I could do without having to do a funny walk all day....
RE: Ouch! Help...
My husband used to get this when he played golf in Spain. This year I bought him some Lamisil.

It's available from chemists and supermarkets and it worked for him.

RE: Ouch! Help...
Thanks, Lesley... after I checked the link, my wife had a good look (at me... I didn't want to look myself!) and said it sounds just like it. I'll give it a go tomorrow. If it works, I'll be forever grateful!
RE: Ouch! Help...
You could be alergic to certain washing powders. Combined with being hot and sweaty these things can flair up and be uncomfortable. I had something similar once and used something called 'Drapolene' which is used for nappy rash. This seemed to clear it up quite quickly and I made sure we changed the washing powder.
RE: Ouch! Help...
You should get it checked by a medical doctor in my opinion.
I had a very similar problem which I tried to treat myself just as you are - turned out to be impetigo and probably caught from another student on a massage course where the towels were not changed between sessions. Got very nasty before it got better, mostly because I left it so long before going to the doctor.
You may be lucky and its nothing, but worth the gp trip just in case, I think.

Hi Nick,
Yes, I'd see your GP about this. It sounds blinking nasty to me. You might well have caught a bacterial infection.
Patsy.
RE: Ouch! Help...
Thanks for all our suggestions. I mentioned them all to the pharmacist at Boots, who took them seriously but reached for a box which she shoved into a bag. Turned out to be Canesten Thrush Cream, and it seems to have done the trick pretty quickly. Obviously, as per the instructions, I'll haveto be careful about wearing wet nappies for too long, and I'll try not to wear tights with my cotton knickers, but at least I can walk fairly normally (well, as normally as I was ever able to walk).
I'm kicking myself, though, because I had a tube of Canesten (albeit of lower strength) in my bag on holiday. Why didn't I just try that?!
Thanks again though to everybody...
