In fact there was a study published a couple of years ago that claimed it significantly reduced the chances of prostate cancer.

There is also the stress relief of it too which I would imagine is good for your blood pressure too, at least that is my excuse and I am sticking to it.

Wouldn't it be better, more enjoyable to share the pleasure with someone of the opposite sex?

Oh James, It probably is but; you have to remember that not everyone has a special someone to share these moments with!!!

Yes, true and i would put some of that energy expended in self masturbation to finding someone. This is not a post-war era, there is no shortage of men for women or vice versa, so it shouldn't be that difficult, should it?

Also, the label "someone special" is often applied to someone that one has shared some pleasure with - that is, there was a mutual desire and mutual satisfaction!

In the old days monks and priests used to use Vitex agnus castus to reduce their libido. The good news is that frequent ejaculation may actually protect against prostate cancer. Try this new scientist article.

I'm with Woodcat much better as part of a duo.

I think that its fairly well accepted that masturbation for females is not harmful as there is no loss of sperm, so maybe "harm" is not relevant for females - you lucky girls!!!!

Oh very cynical James. 'someone special' does not have to mean some you have already spent some pleasure with. In my opinion, it has to be 'someone special' before i would consider letting them get that intimate. It doesn't always have to be a certain length of time but it does have to be someone that one is attracted to. Not everyone just wants a s**g. I would rather be alone than just be with 'someone' or 'anyone'. You can get items with batteries for those pleasures. And no! I don't think it is that easy just to find someone, unless you're not fussy who you have.

Me!!! im particular!! and so are many others!!!

that reminds me of story i read some time ago that years ago women were not satisfied and would be "hysterical " and husbands would take them to drs and drs would do a procedure for the ladies ( masturbate them):eeeK: as a treatment !!! nowadays it would,be unproffesional.

I too am fussy and refuse to go with men for one thing.old fashioned and thats me, but everyone is different each to their own.

but isnt that the point - they're all queueing up, like little soldiers ready to do battle, pushing and shoving saying "me first, let me out first!!"? how can loss of sperm be harmful when you make bucket loads of the stuff? isnt it more harmful to keep it all wrapped up for a special day? (as in the prostate cancer theory). supply and demand eh!

aaannnnddddd....

Wouldn't it be better, more enjoyable to share the pleasure with someone of the opposite sex?

what if you're gay? i doubt it would be more enjoyable then :p.

Yes, it definately needs to be someone that you feel attracted to...the attraction though is just the start and one can end up ruining things if one is too fussy with lots of rules and regulations.

Not everyone just wants a s**g.

I don't know about everyone but i often do - and i wouldn't call it "just a s**g!!!! It's the high point of life, the why and wherefore i'm alive....

You can get items with batteries for those pleasures.

The items are marketed well, but i imagine not all that satisfying - for that you need a connection with a real person.

And no! I don't think it is that easy just to find someone, unless you're not fussy who you have.

Me!!! im particular!! and so are many others!!!

If by "particular" you mean someone to share the rest of your life and physical pleasures with, to the exclusion of all others, etc, etc, then I imagine it wouldn't be all that easy, and i know some women who are still virgins at 45!

Reminds me of what Woody Allen says in that film: "Its not the quantity but the quality of sex that is important. But if you havent had sex for a couple of months, i'd look into it."

sometimes I am horny and mrs Daveon is not so I don't have much choice in the matter, but yes it is far more enjoyable someone else doing it for you :), just because something is not the most enjoyable thing to do does not mean it is not something to be enjoyed, if you get my meaning.

If everyone is honest, we all do it from time to time, male and female it's human nature.;)

But can it be harmful I doubt it very much.
It could give you problems with your wrist in later life, maybe thats why my wrist always hurts LOL, only joking:o
