Simple question really - Iwould imaginethat from time to timea vastnumberred bloodied males must have , at somepoint or other , viewed some form of nudity on the net . Im not saying that I am a major culprit but its so easy to access it accidentally or otherwise. Whats the legal stance on this ?What are the risks ?Ive just been curious about this and appreciateyour feedback - thanks

Not quite sure what this has got to do with men's health, but the simple answer to the simple question is no, of course it's not illegal to look (unless, of course, the site shows something that is illegal in itself, eg child porn).

RE: Is it illegal to view nudity on the net ?...

Although today, the government here in the UK have just passed a bill to make it illegal to view pornography that is considered violent. I think they have yet to define exactly what the boundaries are regarding what is violent, but it certainly relates to things like images of rape andbestiality. This was on the radio today, and it seems that most people are of the opinion that it shouldn't matter if the image was created by consenting adults even if it depicts violent acts.

As Supersub has mentioned, there is currently nothing illegal about viewing regular images unless they cross the boundaries into current illegal acts such as child abuse etc.

It's unfortunate that these images do accidentally appear when we browse the internet because for most people who come across them, we don't really want to see that sort of thing. There are plenty of places to get that sort of material if that's what we really wanted to see, such as Newsagents and S3x shops.

From a technical computer side of things, I know that viewing such material on the internet is very risky as a lot of these types of sites are just smoke screens for hackers and the like, which plant trojans and virus' on your machines and can leave your machine open to being trashed or your person information being obtained (should you leave such stuff on your computer). Personally I would avoid the places like the plague.

With some horrendously worded legislation that doesn't achieve what it should and crimilises an awful lot of law abiding good citizens. As always knee jerk legislation never works - reacting to pressures from the sensationalist tabloids and right-wing press isn't the way to write good laws.

But getting back to the question nudity isn't illegal - it is infact celebrated all over the country in our libraries', museums and galleries - either in real life or virtually online and long may it continue.

Thanks
Mat

Well, it's a "fair cop".

Last Autumn I dared a visitingOz friend to swim in the English sea - in October. He's up for anything, but forgot his shorts! So from Portland near Weymouth of all places, in he went nude. That's typical. He even stayed in for 30 minutes and proclaimed it, "Warm, why don't you come in?" [&:]

To cut to the point, I took his camera out of his bag and photo'd him as he came out - ouch! - I didn't even dare turn to look, but I heard behind me that a party of schoolkids on a trip were passing by behind me! [:-]

It was all perfectly innocent fun, and he put his own photo (not much worth looking at ;)) up on the net in a much larger album. So it's there for those who find it. 😉
A Fair Cop if we broke any law. 😉

V,

Your friend could have been done for public indecency if it wasn't a designated nudist beach, but luckily it sounds like nobody reported him, and, if the image is ona website, there should be a warning message that people have to read first and agree to indicating that the following web pages may contain images that are unsuitable for minors and that the person viewing is of a legal age and allowed to view such images according to their own countries laws.

Love and Reiki Hugs

Hi Giles,

Yes, I am sure there are things to be said against it. But my pal is a one-off, a rebel, and I took the photo as a joke and then he put it in his album! No one has complained. LOL there's not much to see! 😀

Whatever people might say - men or women - there is rarely anything "accidental" about finding erotic websites!

theres a big issue here...its one the Americans have wrestled over, and one which people such as Larry Flint have managed to exploit - and that is when does nudity become pornography?

Theres obviously a huge difference between Venetians 'fair cop' and images of some man or woman draped over a chaise longe with legs akimbo and hairy bits flaunted for all to see...isnt there?

One of the biggest reasons for sexual problems and problems of self-consciousness is this treatment of the naked body as being something taboo - parents running from their kids view if caught from the shower or in the bedroom and so on....

People end up with issues about their body which take years and caring partners to overcome when, for goodness sake, if theres one thing we all have its a body!

bill hicks had some amusing comments to make (as usual) when congress wrestled over the definition of pornography - they said 'pornography is something that causes sexual thoughts' - ha! well, thats anything from full length evening gown (or tuxedo for the ladies, but we are in mens health here) to full nudity, isnt it? (depending on person of course!)

I agree with Fozzyo - long may the beautiful exploration and expression of the human form be expressed in our societies - through art, through music and through theatre or whatever...but I also agree with Darling - I cant stand 'porn' - uninteresting, and frankly, unarousing if you ask me! (being defined generally as those really obvious images and movies which are overtly for the presentation of images of meaningless and depthless sex)

I really dont think 'nudity', in its natural as-is form should be as taboo'd as it is, and i think its already over-reacted to by many - who hasnt seen a naked body for goodness sake? OK, so you dont want to see someone elses? then dont look on the rare occasions they appear and dont search for them.

Darren

Viewing child pron and forced sex and similar porn is considered illegal but watching adult pron is not considered illegal in some countries if you are of a legal age.

Actually there was a program on TV in the UK about what defines "pornography" and "nudity". For example, on television (broadcasted like on bbc1 / itv, regular access channels), they are not allowed to show a man's penis if it is more erect than North Ayreshire (Scotland)

http://www.multimap.com/maps/#t=l&map=55.54003,-5.40255|10|32&loc=GB:55.14796:-5.02215

Nudity is not illegal for minors. Pornography (sexually explicit images) are.
