I'm surprised that nobody seems to have heard of Regaine, which is minoxidil. It's been used successfully for at least twenty years that I know of. I've used it twice daily, rubbed on my scalp, for at least fifteen years, on the advice of my hairdresser when my hair fell out due to stress at work.

It takes about two to four months before you see little hairs sprouting so don't despair. You have to use it for the rest of your life or the hairs will fall out. It's relatively inexpensive.
Now there is a drug called Propecia that interferes with hormones but I wouldn't mess with that until I'd tried Regaine for at least a year.
Good luck!
where do you get your minoxidill from and how much do you pay? you can pm me, i think i am paying well over the ods!
Minoxodil is the only FDA approved treatment for androgenic alopecia. However there are lots of studies on other products that are very promising. In one study Bhringraj was shown to be more effective than a solution of 2% minoxodil for stimulating hair growth.....though as i understand it 2% is a lower dose than is often used.
The Dermatology Department at the University of Aberdeen conducted a study into the effectiveness of essential oils in treating alopecia areata. The results showed they were effective, one of the subjects in the group using essential oils also suffered from androgenic alopecia and those hairs started to regrow as well (this study is googlable.....is that a proper word?). The essential oils used were lavender, cedarwood atlas, rosemary and thyme.
Herbs thought to be usefull include
Rosemary
Green Tea
Nettle Root
Burdock
Amla (indian goosebury.....very popular in India)
Fenugreek Seed (Methi if you are gooling it)
Bhringraj
Saw Palmetto
Aloe Vera
Cayenne
Ginger
Cider Vinegar
Rooibos
There are lots more but i'd say try looking into those first, maybe starting with the cheapest/most easily available and go from there. Yes minoxodil is considered effective but some people don't even find that works, and there is concern over it's use long term.
I would also give consideration to the suggestion of scalp massage, an increase in scalp circulation, the removal of a testosterone by product called dihydrotestosterone (mostly referred to as DHT and i might not have spelt that completely correctly), increase in certain nutrients especially minerals, EFA's, B vitamins and sulphur containing amino acids are the suggestions i see most commonly.
Personally i found my hair grew the best when i consistantly massaged with Indian herb infused oils and washed with Indian herbs like shikakai.....my ponytail circumference increased by about 150% and my growth rate increased to allow for my hair to grow from a bit above waist length to tailbone length in less than a year.
HTH 🙂

In wanting to halt hair loss and in promoting hair restoration and regrowth, this thought is overwhelming. True it is, for herbal treatments, substances and products are being put past behind. Well, consumers cannot be blamed for this. Too convinced that herbal supplements and substances alike are not strong enough, promising and even a bit faster in making a progress in alleviating hair loss.
Well i have also hair fall problem but now it is better because i am using coconut oil on my hair. My friend suggested me to use coconut oil on my hair for healthy hair. Coconut oil is best for making hair strong and healthy.
We seem to have the same problem. Currently, my hair is falling out because of restlessness. Hence, you should get vitamins for hair or hair tonic with thicken back your hair. Since I use Palmolive, my hair is thickening back. You should try it as well! =)
