Hi all
Firstly, I am female but I was wondering if anyone could advise/help me.

My husband has been experiencing a lot of pain & discomfort for some months now & has been back & to from the hospital. Through all of this, he hasn't told me much, even when I question him about what it is etc................as he told me the doctors aren't quite sure what it is either[&:][&:]
I noticed when I took him to the hospital this morning that we went on the Endoscopy ward (am I right in thinking this is to do with camera's?)
Ok, I KNOW there is something there I can feel it (there are 2 actually) but it worries me so much because I don't know enough:(:( I don't even know if I NEED to be worried (hope that makes sense) These lumps are in his testicles.
SORRY, I'm not thinking too straight at the moment[&:][&:] I will come back to this just as soon as I can

P.S If I don't respond straight away, PLEASE bare with me (I WILL respond as soon as I can) BYE for now.

Ok...the following is taken from one of my medical books:

Endoscopy is a procedure by which a special tube, equipped with a lighting and lens system is used to examine a body cavity. Different types of endoscope are used for different parts of the body

RE: Any help would be greatly appreciated

THANKS Storm.

Maybe the doctors really don't know what it is then.................or is it normal proceedure to go in with a camera first?????[&:][&:]
I'm wondering if they will know any more when I go & collect him later (will they know what it is then).
Appologies if my post seems all over the place (not meaning much to anyone but myself) my head is well & truely up my a**e at the mo.

Hi Crystallove
Don't worry sweetheart Endoscopy is the use of fiberoptics / camera to see within the body they are very flexible & are also very narrow no thicker really than the barrell of a biro. & it provides access into areas that x-ray cant get to. Also called a gastroscopy when the camera goes down the oesophagus & into the stomach & sometimes just beyond I can't remember how far down it goes...Bronchoscopy for investigation i to the respiritory system... When the camera goes into the rectum they proceedures are called sigmoidoscopy & colonoscopy the two names cos one goes higher up than the other. By using these cameras the surgeon/dr can see the health of the mucous membrains in thes areas & if there is any thing like ulcers or ulceration .other things can be picked up to such as diverticulitits & if any of the passages are restricted by any thing.Biopsies are able to be obtained by thi method . all these proceedures are uncomfortable but not painful as such .try to see it as the next step in findng out why he is in so much discomfort & the next step in deciding what to do about it....

Yes it is normal to go in with the camera first, its certainly not unusual one time they had to open people up(operate) to see so clearly inside them but these days the use of the enderscopes prevent un-necessary pain discomfort & risk

Healing Prayers & rainbow love to you both Maria xxx[sm=hug.gif]

Had most of my questions answered now:D
Carl had 2 lumps/growths removed which have gone for Histology, & could be anything up to 3 weeks for the results (so, fingers crossed).

On a lighter note: I really don't have the time to worry, it's ALL GO. I've even got the baby monitor on the bed next to Carl, so he just has to tell me what he wants[&:] (saves on the extra journey's up & down the stairs)
I'll keep you posted.
Love to you all

Thinking about you too Crystallove, hope hubby is ok. If he won't, or finds it difficult to talk to you, as I know some men do, perhaps his Doctor will, after all you are his next of kin? I must say that reading this has also put my own mind at rest, as my partner too is waiting for both endoscopy and sigmoidosccopy. I am told that they give them quite a strong sedative, so he may need a bit of looking after afterwards.

A little update: Carl had to go back to the hospital on saturday (he kept saying something didn't feel right). And, he was right[&:] sorry about the details[&:]
The larger of the 2 lumps was attached to the back of his right testicle (the scar is front/side). They had to take it out, turn it, remove lump, turn it back & put it back (hope that makes sense). They did it all, apart from turn it back round the right way, before they put it back (but as everything is so swollen there's nothing they can do). The doctors have told my husband that once the swelling has gone down it "should" right itself[&:]. The doctors called it an oversight on their behalf[:-] (I won't tell you what my husbands response was:eek:;)
No wonder Carl is in a little more pain than he should be[:@][:@]
