Don't know if this is the right place for this thread, but am just looking for any strengthening tips or advice as I know many people are in the sport injury or care field. I HIGHLY appreciate any response and apologize in advance for this semi wall of text.
Hopefully besides some good advice, this can serve as a lesson to others of genuine stupidity besides carelessnes that could of easily been avoided.. So around the beginning of this past december(2011), I was playing soccer(college athlete)/avid runner and i didnt stretch well before one game and noticed that the day afterwards i would have this semi sharp pains on my left leg when squatting/sprinting or going up stairs to fast or quick I continued to play soccer because the pain would subside after i was warmed up and then later decided it would be best to give myself a 2 weeks rest as about a year and a half before that i had torn my hipflexor also on my left side pretty bad. 2 weeks passed its around the end of december and I am officially pain free when running or sprinting and decide to start playing / training again. I was working out doing p90 x excercise program a few days later when it got to a part of intense leg lunges/squat, everytime i would go on my left side and squat up i started getting this shooting pain up my leg, i did about 5 to 10 before stopping.( i want to go pro so bad that I problem of super man complexity when training that i will forever control after this). So i go to hospital a week later cause its just a chronic pain in on my thigh/growing area and they diagnose me with a strained quad/knee. Get an MRI, Immense bone bruise is seen on the area where I have this pain
So it is january now and I am back at college really depressed over my situation pretty much somewhat decide to give up on going pro and get a girlfriend.. 4 months pass all i do is have loads of sex and I did nothing to try to rest heal or treat my injury cept if it got to bad pop and ibuprofen 200mg and dealt with waking up in the night due to this chronic pain by taking an ibuprofen 200 mg almost everynight i would wake up from turning on my my stomach or widening my legs sleeping. Semester ends I break up with her and Its June and i realized as much as i avoid it, I love being an athlete more than anything took the initiative to get out of my slump and decide to properly rest because this has turned into a serious problem now with even my knee hurting from a weakened quad.
Do absolutely nothing but rest for about 4 to 5 weeks Go to see one of the best sports medicine doctors in my area, checks my knee range of motion etc flexibilty. Says everything is okay most likely just a really bad strain in my groin or quad I left untreated for too long. Now I have finished my 3rd visitof PT and he says its like I have a rock in my groin from all the knots and things there and says he will massage it out my next visit. The pain in my knee is completely gone and just that ache in my groin has gotten so much better but still prevents me from just being comfortable doing nothing, just a dull ache driving me crazy. I am going to consider buying creatine to help me rebuild my musces quicker from PT, and just continue stretching lightly atleast once a day. Any other advice or tips would be greately appreciated as I am worried sick It might be A SH or something.
