my partner has been suffering from really itchy ankles on and off for a few weeks. it's in the sock area but not caused by the socks. he's tried essential oils and moisturiser but nothing helps. any ideas? i have a feeling i read something somewhere about this possibly being linked to varicose veins or did i dream that?

RE: itchy ankles

Has he started eating anything new in the last few weeks or started eating something that he has not had for a long time? If it was a reaction to washing powder it would be there all the time.

My first symptoms when I come into contact with something I am allegic to is itching. Luckily the reiki does help stop the itch. 🙂

You could try getting some antihistamine cream from the chemist and if it helps you would then have to find what is causing the problem.

I had a feeling I have heard something about itchy legs and varicose veins but can'y remember what.

Hope he is feeling better soon.

Angie

RE: itchy ankles

I have a similar problem, and my doctordiagnosed it as very dry skin. I also have the same problem, now and then, with the calves of my legs. The doc told me to put Vaseline or another type of lubricant on my legs.I haven't done it ... and they still itch, especially when I go to bed. I just can't adjust to the idea of putting lotion on my legs every night, so I'm continuing to pay the piper.

RE: itchy ankles

Are you confident it's not the socks?

That's the obvious one - a reaction to the materials.

Others include bed bugs - yikes!, poor circulation, chronic dehydration, vascular or neurological problems, early signs of restless leg syndrome, etc.

I'll not go on.

Andrew.

i agree with your suggestions, especially dehydraion, also it could be ry skin and omega oils taken internally could help.

also does he soak in th bath? does he use bubble bath? it could be a reaction to that.

also does he shave in the bath, it could be a reactoin to the shaving cream

process of elimination. try the water increase as its the cheapest option, at least 2 litres per day then get on teh efa omega oils like udos oil and ake sure he rinses his legs after a bath and maybe a lotion on ankles .

do his ankles itch in the bath?

Alohas, From your brief description I would offer an educated 'Guesstumate' it might be Scabies, or a case Fleas, as bedbugs and chiggers are not restricted to just the Foot Area I think a Lady named "Cathee" at Natural Ginesis Could help you best if You Call her at 1-615-790-6122 on Monday, and you can look at her web page @:

Try Tabasco Sauce!

Hi everyone, a newby but involved in healthy living for 60 years or so.
Firstly: itchy legs and ankles can definitely be associated with varicose veins. Secondly: I often get itchy legs and ankles on going to bed at night and have tried rubbing on many things to try to get releif ... garlic, apple cider vinegar, baking soda, teatree oil, lemon juice ... everything I could find!
Really frustrated a couple of nights ago I looked in my pantry again and saw the tabasco sauce bottle! In desperation I tried it and ... eureka! Took the itches away immediately!
Maybe it stimulated the blood flow to the capillaries! But it worked and has done so every time since.
Maybe I'll try Horse-radish sauce too ... the ointment's a known remedy for circulation.
