My Hubby (45) hurt his right leg (thigh) after a rather rough tackle in 5-a-side football. After about a week some large bruises appeared and he was still limping. A few days later his thigh has swollen up a little. Probably water retention. I know you're going to say "go to the Doctors" but would prefer to treat it at home. Does he need to sit with his foot raised on a chair? What else can he do to help it?
Getting it checked is the best route if I were you. Rule out anything serious as subsequent swelling doesn't sound right to me.
You could put a Comfrey ointment on it? I bruise incredibly easily so use it all the time and it does work.
Yeah, raise the leg to aid venous and lymphatic return and try and reduce swelling. A strong rugby tackle could of damaged the lymph system or a vein so really does need looking at soon if it doesn't go down. Lavender essential oil will take any bruising down and can be used undilutred, although should be mixed with a carrier oil such as sunflower or olive oil if it causes any redness or irritation.
You can slowly and GENTLY squeeze and roll your hands UP his leg to reduce swelling though if there is bruising, there may be a chance a vein is damaged and leaking. Bruising is a contraindication to massage so don't do that yet
Hello,
My mother told me one formula what do on swollen skin. Make a mixture of mango ginger and fitkari and apply on it. Do this for 2 to 3 days...
Hi, I'd also advise you to pop into Boots or Holland and Barrett or similar and buy a little bottle of arnica pills. Even if they don't stock many homoepathic remedies, they will have this one.- The first remedy to think of for injury, trauma, and most definitely bruising. Ideally, it should be taken immediately there's an injury to promote speedy healing but it can only do good now, even though some time's gone by. If you're unsure about the remedy, do a google search for arnica- there's plenty of online info on it. HTH Hom.
