Hi guys
...please, I know this might sound funny but I can assure you it's not...I have a corn on the ball of my foot and it is soooooooo painful, any idea's on how to get rid of it...because it is on the ball of the foot the pressure of walking/standing etc; is pushing the corn inwards not allowing it to grow outwards for me to deal with...help[&:]

RE: Can anyone help...

You could try corn plasters. I'm not sure how they work, but I think they soften the corn. I don't know how long it will take, but there's probably no quick solution.

And no, I'm sure it's not funny. After all the feet are very sensitive.

RE: Can anyone help...

Thanks Lesley,
I could be wrong but, I am not sure that would work as the corn is being pushed inwards and as you say I think the idea behind corn plasters is to soften the skin around the corn...where I don't actually have that (did that make any sense? I know what I'm trying to say)[&:] I think maybe I need something to 'draw' it out....but I don't know what!

RE: Can anyone help...

Then, perhaps you should see a chiropodist. Are you sure its a corn and not a verruca?

RE: Can anyone help...

Mmmm, did wonder that myself...but I always thought that verruca's had a little black dot(s) in/around them...and this doesn't...no, I'm pretty sure it's a corn (I think...now you've got me wondering again)[&:] [sm=rollaugh.gif] Oh! I don't know...it hurts though!

RE: Can anyone help...

The plasters should help a little bit. Corns can develop when the skin is rubbed or when your shoes are not fitting well, or it may be that there is a seam inside which is rubbing. So check that the shoes you are wearing are not too tight and that they are still supportive. I think (correct me please if I am wrong) you can give your feet a really nice soak and use a pumice stone to improve the condition of your feet in that area and then use some nice moisturiser on the area, provided it's not broken to encourage the surrounding area to remain more supple. (Any excuse for a nice footsoak really).

RE: Can anyone help...

Just a thought Storndeva, but have you been walking around in the garden or anywhere that you could have got a 'foreign' body go into your foot ie. a thorn or small sliver of glass? The symptoms you give are similar to patient's who come to where I work and quite often the nurses find something ther. It can be painful because the 'body' may only be a speck but when you put pressure on it it feels a bit sharp in that area. If it has been in there for a while then an infection may be starting which could cause the whole foot to be tender.

Hope this helps. There is a paste you can get from the chemist (sorry, can't remember the name of it at the moment) that helps to 'draw' out foreign bodies that may be worth giving a try,

Love and light

Dear Stormdeva
Poor you, know how it feels I had a verruca a few months ago - really makes you feel quite miserable. Get off to the chiropodist is the best advice I can give you.
Shame you don't live nearer as I've been told my foot massages are wonderful leaving your feet feeling 10 years younger - no wonder so many of my friends 'pop in' on the way home from shopping.
My mum used to buy 'thick circular sticky on bits' they had a hole in the centre like a polo and she would place this on the corn. I think the theory was that it created a cushion for the corn keeping it from contact with the ground. I think they were made by Schol - I know we used to get them from Boots.
Hope this has been of some help

Love
Maureen

RE: Can anyone help...

Well thanks guys for all the help...when my husband came home from work this morning, I showed it to him and guess what Aromababe...he said straight away "oh that...it's a verruca" so I guess you are right after all...I'm taking his word for it!
Now for the next question, I seem to recall reading somewhere that there is an Aromatherapy Oil that's good for getting rid of verruca's is it tee tree and if so how do I use it...I think I can use it 'neat' but don't want to overdue the application, any idea's please.

RE: Can anyone help...

Stormdeva, not all verucca's have a black spot - probably best to get it checked out.

Gussie, the paste you are thinking of is Magnesium Sulphate - brilliant stuff.
