My partner who is usually really healthy felt his blood pressure may be high and has been getting headaches. He attended the GP (but when he got there they had just made an appt with the nurse!). Anyway, his blood pressure is higher than it should be, although they did not give him the figures and have asked him to go back into a month, whereby if its not changed they will investigate further.

He asked about diet, etc and they really quite unhelpful and said cut down on salt, but he rarely has salt apart from obviously certain foods have salt in them. She also said it HPB should not cause headaches.

I was presuming they may check if he was diabetic or aneamic, etc.

Going to do some Reiki but just wondered if anything else as in natural products can help lower blood pressure?

Thanks

Ellie

eating raw food s lower BP i believe, they dont sound helpful at all.maybe go back to ask for the reading of BP? he has got right to know.maybe look up HBP on internet and find out what he can do? if he has to wait for one month with these headaches that is awful long time to wait.
maybe someone else suggest sumat else.hope the headaches goes away.

Hi Ellie

I had the same problem last year but tried mukta vati herbal tablets which stablised my blood pressure within only a few days. I heard of this natural remedy via this post on HP:

I googled it to find a supplier.

And to keep it down I took up swimming again, as well as following a healthier diet.

HTH

High Blood Pressure

You can use a herb called Karkaday (Hibiscus). Brew like a tea - then allow it to cool (must be drunk cold). It tastes quite nice too. I don't have high BP myself but I know 2 people who I have recommended this to and it has reduced their BP using Karkaday only. If you can't get hold of any let me know and I can post you some.
Best wishes
🙂

You say your partner is having headaches, is he taking painkillers for these? If so, make sure he's taking paracetamol and not ibuprofen - the pharmacist told my partner off for taking ibuprofen the other day as apparently it can increase blood pressure.

With love,
Amber

No actually he is not taking pain killers but just dealing with the headaches. I have suggested he goes back to the GP.

Thanks for your reply

Hi Ellie

Your partners GP/Practice nurse seem to be following the correct guidelines in treating possible hypertension- nothing is done until they get usually 3 separate readings that are higher than normal. So when your partner goes back for a recheck they still may not do anything. A lot depends on his risk factors - family history, cholesterol, weight, ? is he diabetic etc and also hypertension doesnt usually cause headaches.

Just a thought - does your partner wear glasses or has he had his eyes tested lately? If not I'd get them checked out.

Hope that helps

Just wondering, how much water does he drink? Lack of fluids can sometimes have the effect of raising blood pressure and can also be indicated for some who get headaches. If the salt / water ratio in the body is out, this would certainly not help. Not saying it is this, but it's a cheap and cheerful thing to look at, sometimes with a surprising effect.

He could try to avoid the colour red and use more blue. Red can raise BP whereas blue lowers it. Does he wear a lot of red?

No doesn't wear red and has had his eyes tested in the last few months and updated his glasses - so I think we can rule that one out.

I too have suggested drinking more water and also trying to look at his diet etc, unfortunately he works shifts which I know from experience can sometimes make for irregular mealtimes, etc.

Thanks for all your suggestions.

with the headaches as well it might indicate stress, Hypnosis has been shown to be effective in reducing blood pressure and stress. always look to treat a cause no the symptom.

I do think there is an element of stress involved which is work related, although he doesn't particularly acknowledge this.

Thanks again for your suggestions.

I disagree.

Yes, fresh raw garlic helps lower blood pressue. But garlic supplements are "suspect", because there's strong evidence that the active ingredients in garlic don't retain their potency in a capsule form.

Hope this helps.

Best ways to lower blood pressure: keep a healthy weight, exercise regularly, give up smoking, don't drink excess alcohol, eat healthily - keep away from high fat/cholesterol foods, and avoid stress if possible.

Generally blood pressure problems are related to
the state of Heart-Kidney meridians.
You may try Su-jok therapy especiallyconsidering
there's an effective method of seed therapy which
you can do yourself after some guidance.

Must say I agree with Gussie on this one. I would have a serious look at his water intake as headaches are often from dehydration. In order for the body to take up the water you do need salt in the system (basic biology!).

I believe that if people with high blood pressure were told to take salt, lots of water instead of being told to stop salt we would have much less people on medication!

Reflexology is very good for helping to lower blood pressue.

I had a client who had very high blood pressure and had been on various medication for many months. She saw me for 10 weekly treatments and by the end of it her blood pressue was almost back to normal, so much so that her medication was drastically reduced. I'm seeing her again tomorrow after a break of 9 months so will be intersted to hear how she is.

Hi Ellie,

I read that beetroot juice can help reduce blood pressure significantly even within an hour, in fact I've added it to all my family's diet now, and we drink it regularly.

Research shows a daily does of beetroot juice can beat high blood pressure

Massage can also help a great deal with hypertension, you may notice that at the begining and through the massage it will raise a little but then it will decrease. Drink plenty of H2O!

Blood pressure try reflexology

Reflexology does have an enormous effect on Blood pressure problems as it balances the body. It also stimulates the circulation to ensure your body is working effeciently. I would also recommend plenty of water and I mean pure water.
It is worth trying a course of treatments as one is useful but you would need 8-10 weekly treatments as your body did not get into this problem overnight and therefore it needs a certain amount of time to get it back to optimum health.

CHECK OUT A QUALIFIED PRACTITIONER IN YOUR AREA OR SEACH THE WEB. Ensure they have proper qualifications MAR. or IFR or the Ingham method. Make sure they are not just a beauty therapist and that they work full time. After all you would not want your house decorated by a part-time unqualified painter would you? AND DON"T FORGET THE WATER.

Hawthorn berries have a wonderful effect on high blood pressure, also soya leithicen that softnes fat cells that can cause high blood pressure.

Avoid using salt in diet.
Cut down on coffee and tea.
Try to reduce stress where possible.
Avoid or cut down on fatty foods.

These are all aggrivations of high blood pressure.

reduce stress

yep, as the previous poster said, reducing stress is a major help in lowering blood pressure although that's sometimes easier said than done!

Reducing your salt intake as well as alcohol/cigarettes will also help.

Good luck.

Lime Flower Herbal tincture helps with high blood pressure. The regular dose of an alcoholic tincture is 1-2ml (5-9drops) 3 times a day. Instead, a tea could be made with 1 teaspoon dried herb to 1 cup boiling water (3 times a day)
Hawthorn Berry herb also is beneficial.

I agree with littlestar that Hawthorn berry tincture is really useful for normalising heart activity. Make sure it's a good quality tincture (preferably organic) as pills usually isolate specific chemicals from a herb and don't give the synergistic benefits of the whole plant
