I got this a few days ago and have been wondering whether to post it or not. The conclusion I have come to is this, if we are alone and don't know what to do then we really have nothing to lose if we try it! Hope you never have to!!

A cardiologist says if everyone who gets this mail sends it to 10 people,
you can bet that we'll save at least one life. Read this...It could save
your life!!

HOW TO SURVIVE A HEART ATTACK WHEN ALONE
Since many people are alone when they suffer a heart attack, without help,
the person whose heart is beating improperly and who begins to feel faint,
has only about 10 seconds left before losing consciousness.

However, these victims can help themselves by coughing repeatedly and very
vigorously. A deep breath should be taken before each cough, and the cough
must be deep and prolonged, as when producing sputum from deep inside the
chest.

A breath and a cough must be repeated about every two seconds without
let-up until help arrives, or until the heart is felt to be beating
normally again. Deep breaths get oxygen into the lungs and coughing
movements squeeze the heart and keep the blood circulating. The squeezing
pressure on the heart also helps it regain normal rhythm. In this way,
heart attack victims can get to a hospital.

Tell as many other people as possible about this. It could save their
life!!

RE: How to Survive a Heart Attack!

Hi all,

Just to add to the do it yourself survival kit, I had a mild heart attack through my own stupidity. After stopping vigorous exercise at my gym, and sweating like a pig, I decided, to try the sauna. One of the purposes of the surface capilliary system is to act as a heat sink radiator to cool the body and blood down. This only works if the outside temperature is less than the blood temp. In the sauna, this wasn't the case, so my poor old heart went into overdrive to try and get rid of it's heat. It finally shifted a small blood clot into the heart and bingo heart attack.

Anyway, after allerting my wife to get the ambulance, I went outside - it was autumn and cold - draped myself face upwards across the bonnet of my Landrover and started to Hyper-ventilate. My arms being outstetched, opening my lungs, this caused my heart to receive enough oxygen to prevent me from passing out. The Ambulance arrived very quickly and as a result of my DIY I never lost consciousness...

Just remember Saunas are killers!!!!!
