Hi everybody.
Firstly I would like to say reading the threads Its nice to see people care!
Well here is my tale. Im 40 yo and a month ago I had chest tightness that took me to A & E. On arrival I had a abnormal Ecg and was amitted, I the following day I continued to have this chest tightness and each time my Ecg was abnormal and went from my chest to my neck. After 3 days they released me awaiting a Treadmill Ecg( off meds)which I had on the 04/10/06. I am on lots of angina meds and off work.I keep getting the attacks but they are notso constant as they were.
Monday I had the results. Here they are; On my treadmill day my resting Ecg was abnormal and the had to terminate the test as I had the stiffness in my neck after 9 minutesthat ran long side a depression in the ST line interlateral.
I am now waiting for an angiogram to find out a little more about why and where this is coming from.
Yesterday the tightness got worse and I had 4 attacks, in bed last night it lasted 30 minutes with using the nitrate spray. Today I have had 3 fairly long attacks 20- 25 minutes but the strange thing is it starts with a tightness in my chest, that radiates to the left side of my neck, now it goes under the left side of my tongue and seems to go into my jaw!
Is this NORMAL or not?????
If the pains carry on getting worse do I visit A & E again??
Can anyone tell me anything about my results?
Thanks for taking the time to listen and hopefully reply.

RE: Heart Problem and feeling scared
Welcome to HP Angel.
I don't know if we have any heart specialists here, but maybe there is someone with personal experience of this sort of thing. If I were you I would be asking the Doctor if I had any new symptoms which I hadn't already reported. Stress and anxiety are not good for any health problem and it must be worrying for you not knowingwhat this means.
I really hope you feel better soon, in the meantime if you would like to you could start a healing thread for yourself
lots of love,
Sharon

Hi Tricia,
Sorry to hear of your health problem - I don't know very much about it but I know you can get leaflets about Angina from most hospitals they are very informative - have you seen a dietician?
I'll try to locate one of the booklets I picked up recently.
If you know of anyone who can give you healing or reiki please get some as it is very helpful - I will also send you some absent healing if you like.
Lots of luv
Binah
RE: Heart Problem and feeling scared
I know quite a bit about heart attacks / strokes etc - - from my studies - sometimes the body needs time to repare before getting back to normal, and occasioanly that can get slightly worse before it gets better - have you had any stress's or confilcts lately? 😉
RE: Heart Problem and feeling scared
Hope you are not getting too stressed. I have had a similar problem, its been going on for about 2 years or so, with tight chest pains, radiating to the neck and jaw, and I have been to see a heart specialist and had scans etc. Also had to work on a treadmill, but had to stop after 4 minutes as the screen went haywire, but Ive been told thatI dont have heart disease, but had high cholesterol of 8.3 and high blood pressure which is probably familial/hereditary. So they have put me on several drugs, cardicor, indapamide, perindopril and simvastatin, which has brought my blood pressure down and also my cholesterol is down to 4.9 - but I still get the chest pains and after searching the internet I have come to the conclusion that I might have some sort of intolerance maybe. Its very puzzling!! [:o] I do hope you get things sorted though. When I told my doctor, she got the ball rolling straight away so I had tests for everything. Let us know how you progress.

Hi Tricia,
Sorry to hear about your health situation. I work in cardiac rehabilitation, so can maybe offer some reassurances.

Angina manifests in many ways and does not always follow a set pattern, so yes these symptoms are normal. But as your symptoms are occuring at rest please visit your GP for advice.
If the pains carry on getting worse do I visit A & E again?? There are guidelines in place for patients with angina which should have been explained to you when you were diagnosed.
1. when you get angina attack. stop, rest, sit down and take your spray. Spray one or two puffs under your tongue.
2. Wait 5 mins.. if the pain persists. Take another 2 sprays
3. Wait 5 minutes.. if the pain persists take another 2 sprays
Hopefully this will address the problem as the gtn opens up all the vessells and increases blood/oxygen flow.
However if the pain persists for longer than this you ring 999 for an ambulance and explain the position. dont go to A+E, dont ring your doctor, call 999. This is now a nationwide protocol so dont worry and think you are being a nuisance. Most likely it will be that you are having a bad angina attack but it is important that you get it checked out.
Can anyone tell me anything about my results? You need an expert who is conversant with your history to interpret the results. Again see your doctor and explain your concerns and ask him/her to explain to you in clear terms what the results mean.
Tricia I would suggest that you first see your GP and also ask to be referred to a specialist nurse who works in this field and who can give you the support that you need.
Also go to [link= http://www.bhf.org.uk ]http://www.bhf.org.uk[/link] for advice/ support and information.
Hope this helps. feel free to pm me hun 😀
much love xx
