Has anyone any suggestions please, for someone who is experiencing severe pain in knee and unable for surgery due to other health problems. Leg is already gone out of shape making mobility not so good, but teh severe pain now is really immobilising.

I think that the first thing to do would be go see your GP and see if they can give you some something in the NSAID range of pills.

This is a bit personal and I am sure that you will not take offence and answer so I wonder are you the right weight for your height/age? Because if you are over weight reducing your weight will reduce the pressure on your knee and also the pain.

Thanks. She has been to see GP and specialists, all admit she needs a knee replacement, but as she has a severe heart condition as well as age against her, surgery is not an option. Weight is not a problem either. Presently trying morphine patches, but no relief.

Well in terms of other things to try I would suggest a hypnotherapist who could possibly teach her how to create analgesia.

in some of the blogs i've read that fish oil consumption may be effective in reducing knee pain due to arthritis. but the problem you have mentioned seems critical. you can consult a physician before taking fish oil supplements.

Warning - medical advice coming up😮

Knees are part of my remit as a Podiatrist, and while I wouldn't want to make a diagnosis on a forum I would suggest that the patient tries a knee brace. This will support the knee, make mobility easier, and perhaps give painkilling measures a chance to work.

The GP should be able to sort one out - failing that do a search for orthopaedic knee braces on the web.

Hope this helps.

David:)
