Hi all,
Just thought I would run this irritating problem past you!
For just over a week, I have had this incessant twitching of my scalp muscles (just like when your eyelid decides to twitch), right at the back of my head, on one side. It seems to come on towards the latter part of the day, and sometimes results in a headache or throbbing.
I am wondering if it is something to do with the new glasses I am wearing, as I have only been wearing them for about a month and sometimes they give me a pain at the back of the ear on the same side. I have always suffered from migraines, but on the other side of my head, and it doesn't seem to be related in any way. Generally I am healthy otherwise! Any suggestions to alleviate this!
Thanks
Crabapple xx
Sorry, Crabapple, I can't offer any suggestions on this, but I have recently suffered similar. My scalp twitches were just above my right ear, but I do not wear glasses. It went on for several days, but has now stopped.
If anyone has any suggestions as to why this occurs I would also be interested.

Sounds neurological in nature IMO, it maybe just a simple tick or possibly due to a lack of calcium etc? There are numerous causes of such symptoms.
Sorry to be really boring but this is something for your GP to diagnose. When you have a professional diagnosis this is when a therapist etc can advise you better on how to deal with your symptoms.
It is not unusual for neurological conditions to come and go. If your symptoms have subsided don't let this put you off seeing your GP if you are still concerned.
All the best.

Thanks for that Cirrus, very interesting.
I might be wrong, but isn't there a link between calcium and the menopause. I only ask, because I think I have just 'hit' this, as the last couple of days I have started having hot flushes. I am sure that I have read/heard somewhere that the body finds it more difficult to absorb and utilise calcium at this time, hence the onset of osteoporosis. I also have realised that I don't exactly have a great deal of calcium in my diet, so I am going to up my intake.
Will make a visit to my GP as well, otherwise my hubby will keep on at me anyway!!
Hi Ali,
Nice to know that it isn't just me, drives me mad, although it has eased off a little at the moment, so hopefully it is on its way out.
Love

Hi again crabapple
Menopause that old chestnut eh? Isn't it a drag. My mother started the 'change' in her early thirties. And at nearly 37 I am sure I am on that path too?
The calcium issue may have no connection to your original post at all but my thoughts to you were relating to electrolyte imbalances which can involve calcium. potassium, chloride etc etc. To my knowledge electrolyte imbalances can be related to hormonal imbalances, amongst many other things too! Resulting in twitches etc etc etc.
It may sound a little OTT and again may have nothing to do with the true origin of your problem. Your post rang a bell with me and I was only looking into a related issue a month or so ago.
I wonder if a 'Well Woman' check is available at your GP surgery. Getting an all round check-up may be of some value to you. Especially if you are entering into the menopause.

Yep, it is a drag! I seem to have been waiting for its onset for years, since I had a hysterectomy, although they left me with one ovary, they told me it wouldn't keep up with the oestrogen for long! HHmmmph...10 years later almost!! Problem is that I don't have periods to tell whether I am regular or not, weird really cos I'm sure I still get PMT.....(my poor husband sometimes!). Anyway, I am either getting flustered alot, or its hot flushes, will check out with the doctor next week.
I know what you mean about the electrolyte levels, as I understand the theories behind nerve transmission and those old synapses!!
Thanks for your help, may report back after seeing the doc!

I wish you all the best for a successful trip to the Doc's Crabapple.
I live with PMT every day of my life. Well sort of, my hubby's initials are PMT! But even funnier than that is his previous girlfriend to me had the initials STD!
Well I laughed but he couldn't see the funny side of it, so I laughed even more!
I'm yet again awake at a silly time at night due to my feet thinking they are a nuclear fusion reactor. They often feel like they are burning, especially at night. So the fan is a buzzing my hubby is a complaining, but my feet are cooling so I'm happy!
Apparently calcium & magnesium are essential for a restful nights sleep. So I will be joining you down the local pharmacist for a multi-vit capsule or two.
All the best.
