Dear Friends,

I'm new member here and lovely to meet you all 🙂

I've stiff neck muscles and minor right head tilt problem since birth. When i try to straight my head my right eye turns down (Hypotropia).

I mainly feels stiffness at both sides of the neck and around sides of the cervical spine. For the last six months I'm doing regular neck exercises & massage so feels much improvement in stiffness...along with it my eye sight, eye alignment and neck movement is also improved by little 🙂

Now I want to know. My Hypotropia trouble is associated with my stiff neck muscles or because of my Hypotropia my neck is being tilted?!!! Does Neck and Eye muscles are associated with each other?

I'm really confused  and I don't want to do any eye alignment (Strabismus) surgery 🙁 as doctors are not 100% sure about the results of the surgery and I'm also scared that If everything won't happen as I wish than I can't do my normal work easily with my deteriorated eye after surgery . I don't want more trouble in my life 😉

Please suggest any good non-surgical treatment or exercises to get rid of my trouble. I really appreciate and will be very grateful to you all for your kind help & suggestions x 🙂 x I'm tired with my painful neck and eye trouble all these years :o:(

Please take care and I truly wish all your troubles quickly healed and you all live beautiful life with all the joy and happiness. Bless you... 🙂

Cheers, Rahul

Hi Rahul, for a quick demonstration: place your fingertips gently against the fleshy part at the back of your skull where the head meets the neck. If you close your eyes, and then move your eyes around, you should feel those little muscles engage on and off with the eye movement.

So there is a relationship, yes, and it does actually go both ways.

Sometimes the neck can be quite strained during birth, this may be what started it off, and the strain can remain for many years. Or sometimes the curves of the spine don't form correctly in early life for various reasons.

So I would agree that correcting the eyes alone may have drawbacks. But it is also positive that the eyes have improved with the neck.

I would say that you should consult a good osteopath (I would say that because osteopathy is my field, but I'm sure many here would agree). Having said that, there is no guarantee of success, but it would definitely be worth finding out before resorting to surgery.

And there may be other therapists here who will say that their field could potentially help also, and they may well be right.

Best wishes.

I agree with above, an osteo would have better knowledge and understand the relationships better than most massage therapists, I am sports therapist and will watch this thread with interest, I may learn something... my goal for every living day.

Dear KVDP & BGFL,

Thank you so much for your lovely guidance and suggestion. I really appreciate it very much 🙂

@ KVDP: You've given really detailed reply and I love it. I've try to feel the muscles movements at back of the head as per your guidance and I feel it WOW! I'm so happy you've given me genuine answer to believe the relationship between neck and eye muscles...Great...

Re: to visit osteopath, Yes, I visited two osteopath recently, one neurologist and many physiotherapists. As per your words, One of the Ost. Doctor said by looking at my spine x-ray that I've mild right side curve in the spine and my spine is also relatively weak and my eye suffered a lot b'coz of long period of time OMG!!!

Other Ost. said as your both eyes are moving properly in all the direction so there are chances if you use patch and some eye exercises regularly for long time to strengthen your right eye...

Neurologist said, I've mild bulge in the eye and it might be because of Thyroid gland. He has also asked me to do MRI of Brain and Cervical Spine but report is normal...Phew..great relief.

Physiotherapists said, you've this trouble b'coz of cervical spine and stiff muscles (some vertebra from C1 to C5 are touching each other-don't know the actual medical term). By doing regular exercises for long time you'll feel the ease and my trouble might cured.

I too believe that surgery is blessings and great invention of medical science to give life to the patients and sometimes its inevitable, there are no other means to surgery. I'm not against the surgery at all.

I'm scared of eye surgery b'coz at the moment I can do my all the work so easily. I don't have any other problem than this. I only need to take care to give rest my neck at every 5-10 minutes of working otherwise my trouble getting worse and I feel lots of pain & stiffness, but what happened if my surgery went wrong!!! than I can't do my normal work easily too...

Even though I'm IT professional & love computer I can't do any job at the moment as I need to take rest at every few minutes and no mentor will allow or like to suffer b'coz of me and will surely kick me out of the office ha!ha! 😀 so I've my own work and hobby to do, so none can stop me by taking rest frequently 🙂 and I don't want to feel miserable in my life...so just being in safe side, stay away from surgery and looking for non-surgical treatments. Osteopathy is great branch of science that brings rays of light in the darkness...I believe in it. Bless you 🙂

I've also feel...when I'm worried or sad my trouble getting worse and when I'm happy and enjoying life my trouble heals quickly...I'm feeling so relieved after reading your positive answer that by treating neck, eyes can be improved... 🙂

@BGFL: I'm so glad you've found this thread and conversation interesting to learn something new :). I truly wish you can help someone with this reading. You are warmly welcome and lovely to have you all along... 🙂

Once again thank you so very much my friends for your kind reply and taking your precious time to give answer to my question. I'm looking forward to more suggestions and help so we all can learn something new 🙂

Take care and All best wishes, lovely to meet you...

Cheers, Rahul

Hi Rahul
glad that was helpful. I think I understand a bit more about the probem:

It looks as if you've had a lot of very good answers so far. But there's so much information there that it's all a bit of a jumble, and it's difficult to know what to believe and where to put your trust?

What's missing is somebody to join all the little pieces together and treat the whole pattern as one unity. Osteopathy is supposed to do this, but many practitioners do not. One of our most important principles is 'the body as a unit'.

A lot has changed in osteopathy in the last few years: the training has become much more reductionist, and personally I don't see this as helpful for complex and unusual problems.

You've had lots of good news too, such as test results all negative. So it really might turn out not to be too difficult a problem, finding the right input is the hard part.

So I would still suggest keep trying to find the right practitioner while you're waiting for surgery.

Best wishes:)

Thank you so much KVDP for your kind reply and I'm very sorry for the belated reply. Yes, my treatment and answers from the doctors are like puzzle :D. I'm still trying to solve it...

but good news is now I'm going to have Ayurvedic Treatment called 'Nadi Swedanam' (Herbal Steam Treatment on specific body part) for my stiff muscles & Blood Circulation. Hope this will give me some relief and I truly wish this time it'll cure my trouble as I'm serious about it and if required I'll keep continue this for long period too. Fingers corssed 🙂

All best wishes,

Cheers, Rahul

Hi Rahul,
I practice Celloid Therapy, and what may help your condition is the Celloid form of Calcium Fluoride, a major deficiency can cause the muscles to become too tight causing ligaments, tendons and muscles that bind the skeleton together to cause unbalanced connectivity in tissue flexibility producing unequal forces on the skeleton, leading to misalignment's.
Deficient ligament tone places additional stress on the skeleton, increasing wear and contributes to conditions such as osteoarthritis. Other conditions associated with low levels of Calcium Fluoride (CF43) is aneurysms, detached retinas, prolapse, hernias, receding gums, tendency to sprain or twist ankles, stroke, broken blood vessels and hypertension. CF43 is essential and improves results of chiropractic or osteopathic manipulation by strengthening connective tissue.
