Can anyone tell me if they're ever come across a lymph gland lump that the doctor have said is fat. Any idea's on what is done with it or if nature is left to deal with it ?
Cis
Lymph NODE! Depends alot on where it is. Most lymph nodes enlarge for a reason - generally if it happens to be dealing with something like infection or something it doesn't recognise. They can disappear or reduce in their own time. An enlarged lymph node can also be confused with a lipoma, especially on the upper legs, hips and abdomen. These are harmless, but can be painful if poked and prodded. Where is the lymph node that you are concerned about?
Thanks for your rely Jabba
My lump is on my neck and 1cm in diameter level lll lymph node, that's what is on the copy of the letter to my doctor. When I went for the scan they said it was fat/fatty didn't really listen was more interested in going on holiday the next day, which was stupid of me I know. Today I received a letter from the hospital saying that the lymph nodes were shown to be small in size with normal appearance. And that an appointment for regular review in four months will be sent to me, I've had this node for about a year now.
Also I've got a cyst on my right thyroid which I've had drained twice over a year ago which hasn't got any bigger so think they are also keeping an eye on that too.
Think I was just worrying over nothing
Again many thanks for your reply
Cis
It may be worth getting some manual lymph drainage (www.mlduk.org.uk for therapists) to see if it will help to reduce the size of the node. It is reassuring to know that it is nothing onerous! Hope you still managed to enjoy your holiday!
Lymphadenopathy is usually caused by a viral or bacterial infection. Other causes include allergic reactions, arthritis, cancer, metabolic diseases, and an overactive thyroid (hyperthyroidism).
Had a blood test done today testing for 4 different things, 1 being for thyroid. My doctor is having the tests done because for sometime I have suffered with depression and recently started having panic attacks. Unfortunately because of these problems I have had to give up work being I worked in a stressful job.
Got the hospital next week for the check up for the cyst on my neck which like the lump on my thyroid doesn't seem to have changed size.
Jabba I did manage to have a lovely relaxing holiday thank you, wish I was there now with all this wind and rain.

unless he was sure you had an infection there was no need for an antibiotic. The lymphoma test results are important. Stay on top of the results and if you find yourself showing signs of an infection, usually fever is the best indicator, or if you see an obvious area where fluid is building up within a limb, then call your doctor ASAP and get an appointment.
Keep your body well hydrated and eat a healthy diet with exercise to keep things moving.
The lymph node on my neck I've had for about a year or so and only ever had a scan done which they said it was just fat. Never had any antibiotics or any other tests done on it. Both the lymph node and thyroid cyst don't seemed to have changed since September but it's only by me feeling them so not certain. 2 years ago I had a thyroglossal cyst removed which was clear of any cancer etc, this is when all of the other lumps started showing up with tests.
I have had several minor skin cancers so the hospital and my doctor are very watchful on anything that could be suspect.

My dear:
it is so complex to say how much is the chance,
nobody can guarantee the cure
the cancer could appear locally in the same place or in distant area which called metastases
and the treatment is very complex . surgery , chemical , hormonal ....
it depends on the stage of the cancer and how much it spread locally and to lymph nodes
the best thing to avoid the developed and dangerous stages of all cancers is Periodically check every 6 months specially for whom classified in risk groups
Abdrew: I am not sure you have read the posts by Cis correctly. Do you live outside the UK? Cis has told us that she is receiving regular checks and that lymphoma has never been mentioned. If she has been treated previously for skin cancers, then I feel sure her doctors will know exactly what diagnostic tools are required.
This is the oddest thing that I have heard, the only time that I have seen lympf nodes swell is due to a condition or your body is not liking something your putting in it, would like to know final outcome if possible!:)
