RE: HELP - Raw Food Diet - IS IT SAFE?

Im a raw foodist. Its not a goold idea to have loads of fruit on this diet, simply because of their sugar content. I have moved away from too much fruit now, and my diet is mostly veggies, dehydrated crackers...........and of course the mighty raw chocolate.

Now, to let everyone know, Im a nutritionist myself, and Im trying this diet for 12 months to see exactly how it affects me. I cannot deny that I feel incredible on this diet, although I eat buckets full of super foods and I do take a potent multi too. Ill be the first to recognise any long term negative effects, and Ill put them up on here if they occurr. But in all honesty, so far so very very good. I have more energy than I was actually prepared for, and my emotional health has transformed, and I look very different too.

I have some amazing raw recipes if anyone's interested.

Hello Dale

I have some amazing raw recipes if anyone's interested.

Why not start a thread in the Recipes forum:

[link= http://www.healthypages.net/forum/tt.asp?forumid=123 ]http://www.healthypages.net/forum/tt.asp?forumid=123[/link]

post a couple of your recipes, and see how many 'ooh, sounds yummy, I'll try that' type of replies you get! You ... and perhaps others ... could then add to it.

RE: HELP - Raw Food Diet - IS IT SAFE?

yes please Dale - post up some recipes for us:D
Esp ones that aren't based on nuts please; lots of raw recipes I find are packed with nuts [:'(]

I'm glad you are having such a great experience on the raw diet. Interestingly I kicked dh out of bed this week because he was snoring SO badly - he had had 2 days off the raw and onto cooked and I know it always makes a difference this issue.

His energy levels are pants too, when he eats cooked foods (and he's grouchy, and grumpy, and irritable, and.................... :D)

(of course, I'm perfect all the time[sm=angel-smiley-027.gif] )

RE: HELP - Raw Food Diet - IS IT SAFE?

Good nutrition is a matter of balance. There is no doubt that cooking deactivates some vital ingredients but it can also make foods much more available for digestion. The greater amount of nutrients in raw food are of little use if the food can't be absorbed or assimilated. Of course, everybody is different. There are many people around with poor digestive capabilities who simply cannot handle raw foods. We just have to learn to listen to our own bodies, as did those primitive tribes who, with no technology whatsoever, instinctively knew to build a fire over which to cook.
At a time when more people than ever before are suffering from 'allergies', we need to be aware of the need to maintain a healthy gut . Much is being learned about the damaging effect of lectins - proteins which are present in the healthiest of foods. Although many of these are heat resistant there are many others (kidney beans, for example) which become much more acceptable after prolonged soaking and cooking.
Nothing was meant to be easy!

Hi ya all great stuff, have a look at this website it has some fantastic info whfoods.org. I have just completed my third week on raw as part of my four week purification program and I have never felt better. I do agree that you need to clean the GI system before commencing on a full blown raw program. I used the Puriti Purification Program puriti.org its a gentle way to get rid of unwanted toxins from the whole body, whilst supporting the 5 major organs.

IThe program ismade in Thailand and the herbs are really magical, I studied herbs in the UK for many years and have never come across herbs with such healing energies.

I personally have never felt so energized, I have a fruit shake in the morning witha super pure wheat grass and burdock mix usually a salad for lunch and then have a jacket potato for dinner. I mix in some salmon in the week but no meat, my skin is probably the biggest thing I have notice improve about how I look, its really clear. I have some outstanding before and after shots of myself I lovingly callthe old memy ugly older sister.

I only take the Super Pure and Puri-caps as a supplements as I think its good to stop all supplements for a while to allow the body to find its own balance. I think there is a raw movement starting and not before time. Too many fish and chips can certain curtail ones life ha ha

A xx 😀
