Now I know this is a naughty one 😉 but I like to have a drink or 2 at the weekend and as i am watching my calories have stopped drinking wine & started drinking Vodka with Diet Coke! [&:]

Now I am hearing all this awful stuff about fizzy drinks (cola especially) and am starting to worry about what i am doing to myself [:o]

I dont like beer, or gin so G&T is out.... As I am watching my calories there isn't alot else to drink!!! Has anybody any suggestions because i really would like to get healthy - and dont say stop drinking alcohol althogether or I'll cry [sm=cry.gif] [sm=rollaugh.gif] [sm=rollaugh.gif] [sm=rollaugh.gif]

Vodka with orange juice is also a nice drink. Another way is to keep drinking at week-end (with moderation) and to cut down on sugar during the week and add a few extra lengths in the swimming pool.

A wild shot: fizzy water with gin and a dash of lemon juice?

Blue WKD with a shot of port in it is nice 😀

Vodka, soda and lime is always nice (and normally quite cheap!)

RE: Help on alternatives to coke!

Hello Sarah,

Firstly, you're not being naughty by stating that you like a tipple at the weekends.

I have a suggestion, which you might like try out. I picked it up during my time in Saudi Arabia, where I worked in healthcare in the late 80's/early90's.

Called "Saudi Champagne" this alcohol-free drink is made by means of mixing apple juice with carbonated [fizzy] water, also you may add bits of your favourite fruits and mint leaves.

I realize that you might like some alcoholic content, so maybe a shot of vodka could be added. I must say that I have not tried this drink with vodka.

Do not let he "oh so much more healthier than thou" brigade make you feel guilty about taking on small amounts of food and drink, which may be considered detrimental to our wellbeing.

I'll drink your health with a small glass of Diet Coke later today. [Ooooooh shock horror wickedness.] Am I a real baddie or what?
Despite the presence of:loads of carbonated water, also E150d, aspartame, acesulfame K, phosphoric acid, flavourings, citric acid, E211, caffeine and just a subtle hint of phenylalanine. Mmmmmmmmm!

Cheers
