I had bought some 'raw chocolate pie' for my son but he did not like it, so I had a bit myself this morning around 10. Quite nice. However, from halfway through the afternoon I started slowly to feel worse and worse, and I think I'll end up with stomach cramps again, as so often.
My digestion has been very sensitive since I had chemoradiation a few years ago, so I'm sure much of it comes from my poorly intestines.
However, I wonder whether other people have had trouble with raw chocolate? Would it be because of it being 'raw nibs', or the large amount of magnesium in them?
I'm not going to touch them again, but am just curious.
Thanks! A.:020:
I don't know about raw chocolate per se, but I do know a couple of people, one of whom cannot eat chocolate (ok with white chocolate) as it makes them poorly (not exactly sure how) and another who suffers from severe stomach cramps if they eat chocolate.
I guess it's one of those things... some people can tolerate it better than others (fortunately I'm quite tolerent of it 😉 )

I don't have trouble with normal chocolate at all I'm afraid. Only if I eat too much, or too often, I clog up which is only to be expected!
Love, A.
When chocolate was first introduced (presumably raw) in 1600's it was used as a medicine. I seem to remember that quite a lot of the medicinal benefits are lost in the processing. There are many people who cannot take more than a couple of squares of the 86% chocolate before feeling a bit 'off'.
In your case it's just unlucky. Otherwise I personally too much like chocolate. It's tasty and have lot of calicles which keep you healthy.
