Hello everybody!:)
This may be a little long winded but to try and cut ut down.................

I had 2 very severe attacks with my gallbladder last year that came without warning, for which I was hospitalised via ambulance. They did scans which showed that my gallbladder was full of sludge and during the attacks the sludge was falling down to my pancreas and causing infection there also. I had my gallbladder removed last september and the surgeon told us that my gallbladder wascovered inadhesions and that the tube which connects it to the liver was abnormally short.
Since my operation I've had 4 really bad attacks of pain and vomiting. Its a very similar pain tothe gallbladder pain but nowhere near as severe. The first attack was 5 weeks post surgery and my lft's were raised and I was slightly jaundice. I haven't been in again with the others as they kept me for 5 days that time and I'm sick to the teeth of hospitals!

I just really would love to know if anyone had experienced something similar. Just to put you in the picture I'm a girl (obviously!) and i'm 28 so i was 27 when I had surgery. I also had a very complicated pregnany when i was 26 if this could have a connection. Its just like so many people seem to say, doctors look at you like you're a bit tapped when you keep asking them about the same thing, and it's frustrating[sm=banghead.gif]

Thanks for reading my post.

Could it be pancreatitis?

I would book a private appointment with a gastroenterologist at your local private hospital. You will then get to see the consultant, so you will get an expert opinion, and you are buying his/her time, so that you can can explain the symptoms without having to rush through the consultation.

pain after gallblader removal

Hi flopsy I have found this very interesting as I too had my gallbladder removed about two years ago. However I have recently been experiencing a similar (but not as severe ) pain in the same location.
My GP has recently done some blood tests to check my liver but nothing showed up in the results.
My GP has tried to get me to take Lanzaprole again which I used to take prior to op.
I am considerably older (45) however also had a very difficult pregnancy in my early thirties

Hi

I had my gallbladder removed a number of years ago and had one very bad attack of pain, ended up in A & E but and the doctors didnt know what it was.

But the next morning my husband was listening to the Radio and someone phoned in with the same symptoms that I had. In a nutshell your body doesnt know what to do with the 'fat' it is still trying to process through the gall bladder.

Keep to a low fat diet and watch out for things that bring on an uncomfortable feeling, for me it is any kind of nuts, roast dinners, fatty gravy, rich food, ie, mince pies, xmas cake.

If you have an attack think back to what you ate 5 - 8 hours prior to the attack in order to help pinpoint what trigged it.

Take care

Fudge

On Going Gallbladder Related Problems

Hi ALL,

I've had the same problems you guys have had, only difference is I've been in hospitals dozens of times in the last five years. I had approx 4-6 weeks of good health after my op and bang! It all started up again, and I was literally pulling out my hair because I was ignorant to all things medical and ended up going round and round in circles for five years or so. I luckily stumbled across a website called e-med.com. This is a teaching site for medics, so I advise you all to log-on and search for the following: Gallbladder, Biliary disorders, Spinchter of Oddi and any other related topic you know of.
You'll find other interesting factors in you respective conditions include high cholesterol and Tryglycerides, both very important blood fats. Spinchter of Oddi disfunction could be the answer to a lot of your problems. Never mind going private, your only wasting your money, you've already paid your taxes(which pays for the NHS) so use the NHS. Get your Lipids checked, have an ultra sound scan, to check if you Common Bile Duct is dilated also the Pancreatic duct. Ask for a Hida Scan. This will determine the flow rate of bile through the Spinchter of Oddi(a small muscle in your biliary tree that controls the flow of bile). Another factor that should be considered is a motility problem, the Pyloric muscle in your gut could be the problem. Does your food seem to stay in your gut for days on end, do you always feel full. Do you vomit copious amounts of bile when your ill. these are all reletive. Theres a specialist in Manchester at the Hepto Biliary Dept. Ask your GP to refer you. Or ask for a referal to Dr. Nick Marshall, a fantastic specialist and great guy, you can get him at www.ncmarshall.co.uk
Best Regards..Steveb2020.
