RE: nutrition & ulcerative colitis
hi there:), i have been diagnosed with ulcerative colitis for 5 years however suffered with it for a long time before that.
I find that fatty foods are worst however it isn't always the case as i can eat some fatty food without much come back. when diagnosed i asked for a allergy test for foodsand was told that there was no point as 1 day i could react to something and the next not be bothered by it.
i also find that healthy food, lettus and too much veg also cause me problems however this is different for everyone. also i know that i consume too much shugar, it's my vice.
So i would recomend trying to get a balance diet and gradually you will see how much rich or fatt food you digestive system can handle. porridge is grate if your stomach id delicate only tho if its not milk that bothers you, tho it could be made with water just not as nice.[:'(]
hope my experience helps

RE: nutrition & ulcerative colitis
As a holistic practitioner I frequently see clients with this problem. I generally like to give them a copy of the article in the following link:

It's the most comprehensive article I have seen on the subject.
RE: nutrition & ulcerative colitis
I have had ulcerative colitis since 1997 and I found the following to be of help during a flare up:
Avoid sugar, nuts, wholegrains, raw fruit and raw vegetables, mushrooms and yeasty items such as marmite and blue cheese.
Eat natural yoghurt, take acidophilus max dose and drink lots of water.
Hope this helps.
RE: nutrition & ulcerative colitis
When I was in Zante last summer my Crohn's wasn't too bad, the vegetarian moussaka went through well! I found the salad's good too because olives agree with me and they're full of good fats which help your skin.
