Hi I was just wondering if anyone has tried hypnotherapy for IBS[:@]I have been a suffer since I was about 18 years old but was not diagnosed until I was about 30, which was 12 years ago. I was on medication for a while but then decided that I would try and find other ways of dealing with it, however over the years I have got to the stage where I have done nothing about it and basically just lived with it. The crunch came a doctor at my surgery where I work asked me if I was pregnant, she told me I looked about 16wks gone:( I could not believe what I was hearing and in fact I was pretty angry but when I looked down my stomach was so bloated that I guess anyone could have made that mistake. Therefore I decided to do something about it and booked myself on hypnotherapy course, I will need about 4 – 6 sessions and there is an 80% success rate.
If you have had this treatment I would be fascinated to find out how it worked out for you.
Will keep you posted on how I get on …………… Toni

RE: IBS and Hypnotheraphy

Hi Toni,

One of the treatments that I offer is Colon Hydrotherapy so I see many clients who suffer from IBS, I've had clients come to me in tears because someone gave them a seat on the bus thinking they were pregnant..... you are not alone.
People suffer from IBS for a variety of different reasons and this means that treatment needs to be tailored to the individual. For some it is down to diet, others it may be food intolerances and the big one is often stress or something on an emotional level.

I work with a Nutritionist and a Hypnotherapist and I regularly reffer clients toboth, often with great success. My mother saw a hypnotherapist and her bloating reduced dramatically after just one session (bear in mind that she was also taking other steps). You may find that there are a few other thigs that need to be addressed in the management or your IBS but I'm a great fan of hypnotherapy so good luck!!!

Before you embark on your hypnotherapy sessions you could try some simple things like Probiotic supplements (Bio Care are excellent and can be found in good health food shops) and fennel tea isvery goodfor bloating.

feel free to pm me if I canbe offurther help.....

Elena :o)

RE: IBS and Hypnotheraphy

Hiya,
Thanks for your reply, I am fascinated by this subject and after suffering for so long I am really keeping my fingers crossed that it is going to work. I know that in order for it to be successful believing in hypnotherapy helps.

Well, I have had my first session, not directly to do with IBS this time but more in how to cope with stress and having positive thoughts about yourself, standing up for yourself, self image etc and I must admit that I feel much more laid back and calmer, I even managed to have a disagreement with my husband without getting really angry and then sulking afterwards, I just said what I had to say in a calm controlled manner and it went down pretty well. I was given a cd of our session to which I am going to listen to everyday and I am due back to see her in 2 weeks to which I will be introduced to the GUT. I feel positive that this is going to work so that is a good thing cos it will.

RE: IBS and Hypnotheraphy

How much does it cost? I want hypnotherapy or NLP or something like that for my colitis. It definately is a psychoneuroimmunological thing but I can't stop my bowel worrying for me without help!

RE: IBS and Hypnotheraphy

I have listened to the cd again and today I cannot believe how laid back and calmer I feel it feels so unreal, I cant not remember every feeling this calm, nothing at the moment seems to bother me, where as little things that just to happen during the day I would mull them over and over and argue with myself in my head about these things, yet not anymore, things just happen and that’s it, they happen and then forget about it. Yesterday I done a stupid thing and pulled out of a T junction and didn’t see the car coming along the road, I slammed the brakes on, put my hand up to the driver so say sorry and then carried on my way, before I would have gotten really angry with myself and would have been mulling it over all evening but I didn’t and I haven’t.

Roll on next session

RE: IBS and Hypnotheraphy

The cost of colon hydrotherapy by a trained therapist would be a minimum of 50 to as much as 175 dollars per treatment. Some may feel this is too expensive but can go out on the town or to dinner and blow this much in a few hours.

If you think you can't afford this procedure I recommend taking an oxygen-based colon cleanser like Oxy-Powder. Oxy-Powder is a scientifically formulated oxygen colon cleanser used to safely aid the body in relieving the irritation and constipation associated with a toxic colon.

RE: IBS and Hypnotheraphy

I know of 2 choices to cleanse one's digestive tract: colonic hydrotherapy or drink 60ml aloe vera gel daily. I think I know which I would choose!

We have clinical evidence of how effective aloe is at 'controlling' IBS & Ulcerative Colitis after trials with the NHS.

Naturally one should go for what works for you...if something is working stick with it; altermatively take a positive step and go for something that works - I know that aloe does.
