Hi all,
On the information leaflet that comes with cocodamol pain killers it states they are Not to be taken by persons that have had recent Gall bladder operation.
Can anyone tell me why this is.
Regards j

You should check back wiht your GP immediately - if you've recently had gall bladder surgery (cholestectomy) he should have known not to prescribe them for you and given you an alternative. They're not great for your inside tubes, which are still healing.

Thank's for the reply. I am trying to find out what the clinical reason is for not taking them after gall bladder op. I did question it at the time .regards j

Hi,

I think it may be to do with your digestion. After a Cholecystectomy your body has to redefine and adjust to the way it deals with some foods. Bile will drip continuously into your intestines. CoCodamol contains Codeine which can cause constipation which certainly wont help your digestion as it adapts to the changes.

Of course, there maybe another reason as well. I would take the advice already given and ask your GP.
