Thanks RP....

Upon your advice I just got my crystals out of the cupboard and dowsed.....I picked out one have no idea what it is:rolleyes:, another turquoise, and an angel hair quartz.

Upon reflection the first is golden and very banded, so i guess it works in layers...the turquoise can help in pain relief, and the angel hair seems to be an aid to help the nerve sinapses.

I also googled for acupressure points ( Im not a reflexologist), so may be able to get to those on my heel....no harm in trying.

I have been taking up interest in Qigong recently, interest gleaned possibly from the Reiki daily helaing I have done over the past month.
I have one of Dr Yangs DVD's and his 8 Brocade DVD for sitting and standing practice. ....I was about to go to a local class when the Sciatica knocked me off my feet....so...when I come back from my hols I intend to try again :)...(goodness, sometimes I do waffle :o)

Best Wishes

Hi F

Me not cheeky, I must be ill, lol. (OK I have to be cheeky now, is someone in your life a pain in the arse, or what is it that makes it difficult to stand on two legs, or is this a root chakra grounding problem?)

Forgotten to mention I'm referring to standing exercises 6 & 8.

Best Wishes

RP

yep, I guessed it was the standing exercises,, 8 could be tricky standing on toes though as I am also blessed with a Mortons neuroma on my left foot....

Also, when I keep telling myself, I am getting nowhere in life, I don't know which path to take, I am stagnating and doing nothing......that mindset can sometimes really stop a laydee in her tracks...as well as heaps of stressful events have really been getting on my nerves??:D Root chakra,,,oh yes having an active life is a real issue.

I think we're hijacking your thread Atlanticpearl 😮

Hi Fleur, you don't have to stand on your toes, if you can rise up and bang your heels that would be benefical, or you can shake from the sacrum by bending the knees you will have a similar effect.

You don't do you AP?

Best Wishes

RP

For two months had the most painful sciatica, but had a big event (military ball) planned, so paid out for an osteopath visit. Could hardly believe that I was on the dance floor doing the twist just two days later, treating the cause, rather than the symptoms certainly worked for me

What is sciatica anyway? I'm really not sure what this means anymore. It seems to be a word people use for lots of different combinations of various back and leg symptoms due to many varied possible causes, each with its own life history and aetiology and with different treatment requirements. Am I missing something?

Hi KVDP

To my knowledge sciatica is still the name given to any sort of pain that is caused by irritation or compression of the sciatic nerve which runs from the pelvis all the way to the feet. That the compression can come from several different sources. Hence the differences you have noticed.

Hiya kvdp

What is sciatica anyway? I'm really not sure what this means anymore.

You are right, the name sciatica is casually thrown around by medics who can't be bothered to look more closely, and sufferers who don't 'yet' know the difference. But it is based in biology, it's just that you need to correctly identify the symptoms and locations as you trace them through the 'autonomic nervous system'.

Real 'sciatica' will always involve either damage to, disease of 'or' impingement of the nerve strands as they travel down the spinal column or as they exit the spinal canal, usually at the L4/5 lumber level or as they travel down the legs.

These nerve strands could experience these problems any where between the sinal column, foraminal openings (nerve root exits) and feet and travel down the right, left or both legs. Right sided nerve strand impingements will affect your 'right leg' and visa versa 'or' both legs.

Because these strands do not have 'pain recepters' down the length of
the strand (only at the ends) when the brain detects a pain signal caused by the impingement, lets say at the foraminal opening, the brain becomes confused and 'fires' locating signals to try and find the source of the pain
signals, this is why we get 'transfered pains' in the legs.

This phemominum is similar to the 'phantom limb pains' experienced by amputees after they loose legs and arms. The brain ''cannot compute'
so it goes looking for the the missing recepters. (for info on this look up 'mirror box').

Also, sciatica from the L4/5 level will usually transfer pains down the front of the legs and groin, the lower L5/S1 issues usually travel down the backs of the legs instead. Of course, you will have both if you have double level issues.

I hope that helps

Best wishes
