I am in extreme pain most of the time and have tried just about every therapy under the sun. I have also tried anti inflammatories and pain killers, none that have any effect.
About three times a year ,maybe more I have massive flare ups up to two or three weeks continuosly and the muscle spasms are unbearable.
Can anyone suggest anything at all. I have found that if I have a regular Holistic or cranial massage at least once a week it does give some relief but I cannot afford this anymore as I claim incapacity benefit at the moment, which is distressing in itself by causing me low self esteem.
I have to modify my lifestyle from day to day and unable to make social plans or be reliable for work. This pain and stiffness is unpredictable and can come and go at anytime.
Rhuematologists and doctors say I have to learn to live with this. But it's unbearable and I can't do anything most of the time. It takes a lot of energy just to shower and dress. Using public transport is very nerve racking as the tiniest vibration hurts.
what doctors dont tell you- look at this
i read the other day, that the migun thermal massage beds are helping, check it out.
Hi there
Have u tried the angle of calming the nervous system through meditation or other related therapies? I am no expert in this field so please excuse my layman terms.
I totally appreciate the severity of your condition and my suggestion may be too simplistic, my apologies if this is the case. There are many meditation/spiritual gurus on Healthy Pages that may have differing techniques to help you. Or maybe some 'cognitive behavioural therapy' may help?
Also an advert in your local paper may help you find an altruistic therapist that is willing to come to some agreement on payment.
Lastly, a friend of my son asked him about my treatments, he was able to claim the treatment cost back through some sort of disability grant. If you haven't already, look into that because often they don't tell you what you are entitled to.
Take care.

Hiya grizelda,
I totally sympathise with you on your condition, I suffered terribly a couple of years ago with torticollis and it was very debilatating, I had to give up work because of it, however, after seeing a neurologist he put me on a course of botox injections to have in one side of my neck every 3 months. Once I had these injections it cured it after about 6 months. Has this not been offered to you? though your condition may be different to mine, meaning I havent got cervical spondylosis, just the really bad muscle spasms.
I hope you manage to find some relief for you discomfort x
Oh I am sorry to hear about your pain.... if you ask your doctor, he or she may be able to refer you to an alternative therapist on the NHS, then you wouldnt need to pay for it, I dont think. My father in law got acupuncture on the NHS for sciatica and it cleared it up. Have you tried acupuncture?
