Two weeks before he gets his results from MRI - just a waiting game now
Try to be positive. And don't try to self diagnose! You'll always end up thinking of the worst.
Holding my fingers crossed for you.
Any update Jane?
Two discs pushed out -referring him for physio and given him amytirpyline - great more pills - but told it will be a long job to recovery!
PS It's Jan,, Janet but not Jane!
Good to hear what is going on but being a bit picky as an amateur back specialist lol, what on earth does two discs pushed out mean? Were they on the floor? Iwould be very wary of doing any physio with a disc poblem, I have been told in the past that my physio at the hospital would not touch anyone with disc problems as they could make it worse.
Presumably it was a consultant that gave you this news?
Results of his MRI scan from the hospital relayed by his GP - they are referring him back to hospital for physio so see what they say. Trouble is the amitryptaline is knocking him out - used as a muscle relaxant - but he's already on an AD - concerns me the amount of pills he takes but he has to - AD's, pain killers and then some for his stomach
oooh ad's anti depressants? You know that amitriptyline is a tricyclic AD!

No what does that mean
Janet you said that hubby is on an anti-depressant, well amitryptiline is also an anti-depressant, but I would am sure that your hubby would have mentioned his medical history and medication he was taking, but of course two together could be why he is knocked out, although rest is very good 🙂 In my experience this is where the patient has to start taking more responsibility for their situation. Have you ever heard of the Expert Patient programme that is run by gps' and hospitals?
His Drs know, he has checked it out with the pharmacist and he said it was fine - he is also taking paracetemol and codeine for the pain - amytripaline was given as it helps to relax the muscles
Hi Janet! I can understand your situation since I had faced a similar problem. I had an accident long before and I guess the pain was due to that. For about three months I took medicines but I didn't get a permanent relief from it. One of my friend suggested me to take the lower back pain treatment in Physio Now at Mississauga. Their treatment was effective for me. I think physiotherapy will be a better idea for your case too. Only thing is to make sure that you go for the registered one.
I had my hip replaced, was in pain for years! Wait for MRI, and see what the doctor says. I wish you good luck!
Stretch, exercise, live healthy and of course see a chiropractor...
