I am 35 years old and about to under go surgery on my wrist. I have a fractured scaphoid bone that has been in this condition for 15 years. As a result I have arthritis of the scaphoid-radial joint.
The surgeon is going to try to pin the scaphoid and also carrry out a radiostyloidectomy. If this fails then a partial fusion will be carried out on my wrist. Has anyone else had this done and what were the results?
Thanks.
From experience of similar injury and a more debilitating shoulder injury, the latter of which I had early surgical intervention after various injections, my advice would be as follows;
do not have surgery until you have exhausted all other treatment modalities, including supplementation for the arthritic condition. I would have hoped your current studies would be pointing you in this direction anyway. I would be happy to chat with you about alternative treatments that may be beneficial. I will try to PM you
