We've been thinking for a while of getting a hot tub - partly because we just like the idea of one, and partly because my wife finds warm water good and pain-relieving for her arthritic hip. Logistical problems are making this a difficult option, so I started thinking about an indoor sauna cabinet. Has anyone had any experience of arthritis and saunas?
No experience of arthritis and saunas so I am speaking personal preference here. I love the hottub and enjoy a steamroom/Turkish bath even more, can sit in it for ages (and, this one is smaller than the sauna). The sauna's heat is much to hot and dry for me and after 5 or 7 minutes I have to get out of there! In Holland in a spa they had a 'sort of' sauna but it worked with infrared lamps, that was quite a pleasant experience as well.
I use all of these at the local gym. Maybe there is something like that close to you so that you can go and try out some different options and your wife can see if it helps before infesting in a white elephant!
