I'm in contant pain with acute gout, can i claim any Disability Living Allowance?
Hi! I am new to this sight, can anyone help me or advise me on acute gout in both my feet.I am so disabled at times, even the smallest of tasks , like going to the Loo...is unbearable:(. Would I be able to claim disability Living Allowance?
My Dr has priscribed me Colchicine and Allopurinol, which does reduce the swelling and inflamation, but would that then render me to un-claim this benefit if I was entitled to it?
Many Thanks Sandra.

Hi there Patsan and a very warm welcome to HP,

I would personally say by all means make a claim, but whether you would get it is another matter, purely because DLA seems to of tightened their belts when it comes to assessing a person's claim.:( As far as i'm aware, your medication will make no difference, in fact it will help go in your favour as if i remember correctly there is a section where they ask you if you have to take medication.

Perhaps you could phone the DLA helpine ( you should be able to obtain this by doing a google search) as they can advise you better than i can .:)

Good luck should you make a claim.

Warmest wishes- calla lily x

Hi and thank you for the warm welcome calla

Hi there calla :), Thank you for your warm welcome and advice. I never thought of a help line. Yes, I will find it I'm sure on google . Many thanks for that. This is the first for me on any kind of forums, so bare with me if I keep on making mistakes.:p
Kind Regards patsan......P.S Just seen a foot note...hi and cheers for that kind and encouraging footnote Tarot

You're more than welcome patsan, and please don't worry about making any mistakes as i still make them, despite being a member for over two years!

Also, another suggestion that's just popped into my head is if you have any problems filling the DLA form ( it can be somewhat confusing in places!) then your local CAB may be able to fill it in on your behalf . 🙂

Warmest wishes- calla lily x

PS- my footnote is known as a 'signature space' where you can type your own quote, or website, both which must comply with the discussion forum guidelines.( you can find these just above the 'new members' forum on the main page)

To gain access to the signature space, go to: user control panel ( top left of any page) then edit signature, type in the box provided then -save settings once you are satisfied with the results. 😀
