RE: 2nd Jan Failed @ giving up smoking

I am still smoke-free. I think that I am going to make it. I have been really tested (went through some stressful moments, and I really wanted one), but I did not give in. The cravings can be quite strong at times, even with the patch. But, I believe that my wish to remain smoke-free is stronger than the urges. I have a straw that I suck on when I feel the need for a cigarette. My daughter is talking about joing a smoking cessation group. Now, if only my husband would quit. I know after awhile, I am going to be totally nauseated by the smell of smoke. Currently, I still have a decreased sense of smell from a lingering sinus infection. But, I can remember us getting into arguements in the past from his smoking making me sick. And, I can remember him saying, " I like you better when you smoked." Unfortunately, I granted his wish by relapsing. Now, he wants me to quit as much as I do.

RE: 2nd Jan Failed @ giving up smoking

Hi all
I've been thinking about giving up for a while now (my sisters having a baby in Feb and I don't want to have my baby visiting rights restricted at all!) After I read all your posts I was inspired to go for it and I'm now on day 6!!
So thanks for the help - it really is nice to know that it can be done and what i'm goin through is normal...
Now about the sleep thing, a lot of you have said that your sleep has been disturbed - but mines so bad i now feel nauseous and have a headache. I haven't slept properly since monday and thats now taking its toll. When will it get better?????

Day 5 - Getting easier everyday. I forgot to remove the patch last night. I did sleep with no problems.I totally forgot about it, and removed it 34 hrs. later. I am thinking maybe that I can go without it. Well, I am going to give it a try, anyways. But, it is awesome to be smoke-free again.

RE: 2nd Jan Failed @ giving up smoking

i've heard that if you sleep with your patch on it can give you awful nightmares!![:o]

anyway.. it's the beginning of day 17 now and i feel flippin fantastic!! i've been making my usual visits to the gym and i have to admit i've got loads more stamina than i did before.. i'm so pleased that i decided to quit.. i feel really positive about it this time!!

back to what you said annie.. i've cut down on my coffee intake during the day and that really does help.. somehow a cigarettedoesn't seem right with cup of herbal tea.. right now i'm on the green tea with orange and lotusflower.. very nice it is too..:)

keep it up peeps!! you're all doing so well..;)

ali xx

RE: 2nd Jan Failed @ giving up smoking

Well done everybody:)
It's my 6th day and i'm finding it easier and easier now. I went cold turkey as i just wanted to draw a line under the whole sorry smoking affair.
I was a nightmare the first couple of days with moodiness and i've had that sleeping issue too. But it's actually been alot easier than i expected. It's amazing to go out now....my smell is much more sensitive and i've already found the smell of tobacco smoke quite revolting. In fact it's shocked me that i walked around willing to smell that bad!
Anyway, good luck everybody.....keep up the good work!

i know.. it really stinks doesn't it!![:-]

and thanks TOT.. you seem to be coping pretty well also!! you should really try the herbal tea thing.. not only does it deter you from the ciggies but it keeps you off the chocolate biccies too!!

RE: 2nd Jan Failed @ giving up smoking

Hi
I do admire you a lot . I tried several times to quit but just finding myself smoking more the day of my decision. O I really really want to qiut. I hate the smell. I cannot afford it. It is bad for my health. It is bad for my profession (carer and reflexologist) I wish yhe urge of smoking can just go away. I spent money on hypnotism which of course did not help. I just feel I am not strong enough, no will power a complete loser.

Thanks for sharing the fact that it can be done with us

Fran:):):):D:D:D
