I am watching A & E a guy had a Super hero moment by jumping onto train tracks and saving a girl having a fit from the tracks. Made me think have you had a super hero moment and what was it ?? I have not had a super hero moment but did give birth to my son in a car in the carpark of the hospital with help from the A&E nurse which makes me feel that I may not be a super hero but I definatley had a moment ??

Not sure it was super hero stuff, but I was walking towards my house one evening, and noticed my husbands car backing out of the drive - I started waving, thinking he was off to the shops to get something...... then noticed the car was empty and heading backwards towards a busy main road........ I don't normally run (built for comfort not speed), but possibly left The Bolt standing as I raced down the hill and threw myself against the side of the car to push it into a wall. I forced it against the wall as it slid to a halt after about 80 metres - the paint marks are still there a year later!!! My puzzled daughter came out of the house, wondering why I'd gone past in a blur, and nearly fainted when she took in the scene! My husband? Had been brewing a cuppa - also wandered out and said "must be a problem with the brakes".......

A couple of days ago we were invited to a formal presentation where my hubby recieved a Royal Human Society Award for his bravery last year.

We were driving home after an evening in the park with my son. As we drove over a flyover we noticed a young women standing on the wrong side of the railings, about to jump down onto the motorway below. We stopped the car, I phoned the Emergency services while hubby was pushing me out the door to go and talk to her. (He thought my "counselling skills" would be enough to get her down.) There was already a young man with her and was having no sucess. I walked over to her and started talking, meanwhile hubby had got out the car and took a wide loop to walk behind her. By then the sirens could be heard when the police pulled up some yards away, the girl wanted them to get back or she would jump....we screamed for the police to keep back...which they did.

Hubby was right behind her now and she hadn't noticed him approach, he nodded to us, we grabbed her arms and hubby threw his arms over the top of her and yanked her over the railings. She didn't struggle, she didn't have the chance, we all just stood there in this big bear hug, I think we were in shock by then that we had her on our side of the fence but we didn't dare let go of her....then the police ran up to us.

I'm really proud of my hubby and it was lovely to see him and the young man get their awards on Wednesday. He wasn't going to go to the presentation, I really had to push him, he doesn't see himself as a Hero but I always will!

Ohhh just remembered another one.....we were at the seaside a few years ago, it was a red hot Summers day and we were all splashing around at the waters edge. There were a lot of people there playing amongst the waves, when suddenly I saw Hubby dash towards this young child (about 5 years old) who was up to his knees in the water. He grabbed the child up into his arms, yelled out in pain and ran onto the sand with him. I actually thought my hubby had gone quite mad by this point and ran over to him. He put the child down and the parents had run over, hubby expained that the child was about to step onto a huge Jellyfish. The parents just walked off with the child without a word of thanks.....meanwhile we had to go and seek some help because of the stings hubby took from the thing......I actually managed to get a pic of the Jelly fish before we went as I had never seen one before. lol

When I lived in York in the early 90's I used to regularly jog around the Knavesmire and then up Tadcaster Road hill to turn right at the lights to go back home.
Tadcaster road is always busy with traffic.Half way up the hill is a cul-de-sac which has approx 20 houses in it.
One morning as I began to start jogging up the hill I noticed a little boy (about 2 years old) on the cul-de-sac road running towards the main road. I managed a "super spurt" and scooped him up just before he reached the road where he would have gone under a buses' wheels. He was not happy with me and wriggled for all his worth to be put down!
Anyway I went down the close shouting out if anyone knew where he lived and someone pointed to a house at the end of the road. The front door was open and I could see his Mum on the phone. She put the phone down temporarily, took him off me barely listening to my explanation, shut the door and that was it!!!!
I walked away and by the time I reached the hill I could barely walk as my legs had turned to jelly!
Just glad that he was safe.:D

Hi Angel
This is like deja vu, have you mentioned this incident on HP before? It seems I have read it before and the scene that the post paints, I have been there too(only on Hp) not reall ife.
If not you, then perhaps someone dreamt something similar and posted it here. But it is certainly familiar.
I any case, Very well done, glad you were used as a vehicle of peace in such a fashion.
.

What interesting and wonderful posts here! About 6 years ago some friends and I went in two cars to visit another friend for the evening who had moved out into the country. One car load knew the way as they had been before but the car I was in had no idea where we were going! The evening was so great that it was past midnight by the time we left and the car that knew the way back home said to follow them through the country lanes until we saw a familiar sign post.
My friend who was driving held back from the leading car as it kept putting it's brake lights on and she didn't want to go into the back of it. There were no street lamps so all we could see were the lights of the car in front. As we turned into a sharp bend I saw coming towards us a car but it looked all wrong...there was this orange glow coming from it and it seemed almost on its side..... It was in that instant that I realized it was actually on its side and the orange 'glow' were the wall of sparks as the metal of the car scraped along the road! Almost in slow motion we saw this car suddenly veer to the left and it smashed into our friends in the front car and then careered off into a tall hedge at the side of the road, landing on two wheels with the other two resting against the hedge. In an instant my friend had stopped her car and we both jumped out,she running to see how our friends were while I kept running towards the car that was on its side, while our other friend phoned 999. Unfortunately we had no idea where we were so she phoned the friend we had just left and they knew and called the emergency services. Luckily they were both ex-Police Officers so they came in their car to see what they could do.
In the car were a man and a young woman . She was crying and having trouble breathing because he had come out of his seatbelt (or maybe he hadn't been strapped in) and his body weight was pressing down on top of her. Although I told her not to move she started panicking because she was asthmatic and she couldn't breathe so she slowly slid out from under him, through the open window and sat on the grass verge . At that point another car could be heard approaching so my friend rushed out into the road to flag them down which they did. The lady was in an evening gown as they were on their way back from dinner in London but she knelt down in the mud to support the girl while I checked the driver who was conscious but in a lot of pain. I put my hands under his head to support him so he was more comfortable but also to stabilize his neck and I could feel something warm and wet running through my fingers and realized it was a lot of blood! At that point our friends arrived and her husband ran towards me shouting to move away as the car was just balancing on 2 wheels and it could topple on top of me at any moment but I couldn't leave the driver so my friend's husband supported the car while we waited 40 mins for the ambulances and fire crew to arrive, the longest 40 minutes of my life! Once the driver was carefully removed from the car I looked at my hands and they were soaked with blood and one of the firemen directed me to one of the tenders and said that there was hot water and soap and to wash them thoroughly. Thankfully our friends in the front car were safe but had suffered severe whiplash and were in pain for months and lost time from work. It turned out the driver had been drinking all evening....... so stupid as it could have ended in tragedy 🙁
Love and light

Wow, some inspirational stories here! Have never been a superhero myself, I guess the closest I've come was when I was working in a male prison as a horticultural instructor some years ago, and I managed to intervene when two prisoners in my team were about to have a fight. Otherwise the only crises I've encountered have been emotional ones rather than where someone was in serious physical danger.

I think ive only ever managed to save myself! I was 15 and walking down my road toward home after an evening out, dressed in short skirt etc. It was v dark with no lighting as it was a private road. I noticed behind me a guy walking the same way, it looked a bit like a neighbour so I tried not to worry. I looked again and wasn't so sure, I had a strong feeling I was being followed. He was getting closer and as he came up to me (I had no where to go!) he resembled my neighbour so much in the pitch black that i actually said 'thank god its you I thought I was being followed!' then my stomach sank lower than I can describe as in an instant I saw it wasnt him, but some weird old guy who had grabbed my arm very very tightly. I didn't know what to do, he wasn't letting go and I didn't want to struggle in case he grabbed me with his other hand too, or worse. He was saying 'you're so beautiful' over and over again. I was convinced he was going to rape me, the houses were set right back, it was a private rd with a few convenient alleys leading off it. I told him he was hurting my arm (he was!) and please let go, but he just kept repeating I was beautiful, nothing else, which made me realise that as well as planning to rape me or whatever, he was also not the typical rapist, in fact he seemed to have learning difficulties or a mental health problem as he wasn't progressing the situation at all, he didn't seem to know what to do. I was terrified but somehow felt I could break the stalemate with my wits. I said very clearly and authoritatively, where are you going? This road doesn't go anywhere. He was very confused by this but didn't let go. He was floundering tho, and I kept asking where he was from and where he was going. He eventually told me the name of a nearby town, I told him he needed a train and to go back up the road and turn left. I had to say it a few times, then he actually let go and walked as I'd directed. I ran home as fast as I could. It sends a chill down my spine writing this, I know I came very close to being raped or worse. Who knows what he might have done, he didn't seem to know, but I'm sure if I'd not realised he wasnt all there and taken the upper hand it would have had a nasty ending. I still see this guy around sometimes, but it was so dark I can only be 90% sure it was him. So I doubt it's worth going to the police. I told my mum and she didn't seem to get it, certainly didnt suggest police 🙁
