Hi Chris,
I don't think you come across as angry but you do come across as defensive and after reading this thread I can't see anything so far that would make you want to be defensive.
Back to your post, it doesn't resonate with me because you write as though you are writing facts i.e. we don't trust people, I am happy to state that despite this world we live in with all it's growing amount of problems my frame of reference is that people do trust despite what we hear, what we experience and what we see in the media, I know more people, myself included who still choose to believe in the inherant goodness of people. As for what you say about never trusting feelings or internalisations I think to a degree you are right but unfortunatley as a society it is not in our culture to recognise emotions, we are taught from a young age by our parents that what we are feeling is wrong because it's not convenient, they have a headache, we are just 'giving cheek' etc and that is only the ones who are 'allowed' to show any emotion in order to illicit a response in the first place. Additonally our culture teaches us to give our power away to our elders and those in authority ie. teachers, a policeman, the clergy and the quack from a very early age and if we choose to reclaim our power later in life it is my experience that it's often a stuggle which never ends but always brings amazing rewards.
Edited to say, I am intrugued by the idea of you not wanting to appear angry, anger is a very healthy emotion to own as long as we have learned the difference between it and abuse, I would say that this is an example of you not trusting your own internalisations.

Rebecca
Hi Rebecca,
Good points - the idea that we give away our power is interesting - and we do, but we seldom realise just how much. Of course how much is 'wrested' from us and how much we 'give' away depends on each person and their circumstances. Once we lose it it takes a big battle to get it back - as often our self-respect goes with it.
As for anger - well I disagree. For me I see it as a destructive thing. It happens and it is natural but it creates more problems usually than it solves. This does not mean that one cannot be defensive, or even confrontational if the situation requires it but anger simply shortcuts the normal thinking process and the result is usually regret about words and events that are hard to deal with.
Part of the original post was perhaps to say that we cannot be our own judge and jury when it comes to things we have an investment it. We rationalise things to bolster our own ego, our sense of correctness. An example lies in the word reasonable - we can each consider our response to an issue, or our choices as reasonable, but it takes an impartial view to really see if the word is applied correctly, not a stakeholder's view that is focussed on a particualr outcome.

Hey Becky and Chris
I thought both your comments about anger were interesting. Rather than wander off topic I started a new thread.........

Anyways, Where can I trust?
I dont easily trust.. maybe I just wanted to trust my self and no one for that matter
Hi all,
As usual these threads go places we don't always anticipate.
I did not really expect the kind of comments made based on the above starter - and presumably other posts - I'll say again I do not plagarise or break copyright - I feel that would be rendering me less than I am - I merely relect my thoughts. I am not offended by the question, but it carries overtones of accusations that are not very nice.
I have no regrets that some feel I do not fit the boxes that people use to categorise people, or that my words are not written in a manner that is tailored to suit others.
It's not about fitting into boxes, and now we know why your posts appear as they do, then that's all fine and good, and people don't have to jump to conclusions that you've posting something that's not yours or that you're not trying to start a discussion etc.
My sex surely is of no consequence
Not to the topic of conversation no, but it's good for people to know so if we refer to each other in conversation we can use "he" or "she" correctly and prevent undue offence from being caused. That was the only reason I asked.
I am who I am, irritating perhaps that I am content in that place, but it is where I find myself. I work with tolerance and love and compassion - how does that make things wrong?
Nobody said that anything was wrong, we're all just trying to understand each other.
If the mods want me to leave please let me know.
There's no reason to assume that to be the case.
