Still not sure what happened at work yesterday. On serving a customer, who didn't like what I told her, I was accused of being 'happy' whilst doing so!!! Whereupon she took my name! We have procedures in place to report abusive customers but this one didn't seem to fall into that cattegory. :confused:
Quite what her letter of complaint will be like I can't imagine! Anyone want to try a rough guess at complaining about a happy customer service supervisor??? 😀

At a guess I would say that she is possibly thinking you were not taking her complaint seriously enough. Sometimes complainers want you to be as miserable as them, and no matter what you say or do....it will never be right anyway. The Victoria Meldrew syndrome 😉

She was obviously having a bad day and resented anyone else being cheerful!

It takes quite an effort to compose a letter of complaint so really when she thinks about it on paper, if it ever gets that far, she should realise how silly she's been! - hopefully!!!

ahem...To Whom it may concern,

I don't belieeeeve it! I put a complaint forth to a member of your staff on Friday the 13th...she had the audacity to smile whilst reviewing my situation. I find that kind of customer service disatisfactory, and trust that in future you take it upon yourself to "train" your staff in the art of serious pomposity, and keep them on track.

I have no recourse but to take my business elsewhere where the staff I am sure will be more sombre and sympathetic to my grievance, and provide service without a smile.

PS. I intend to take this matter to the local rag "The Tittle Tatler"

from disgusted
Victoria Meldrew..no less!!:mad::D

:DThanks Fleur!
It may make it a bit easier to understand if I explain a bit more. The woman in question wanted a train ticket from A to B. On telling her the price, which she didn't like, she then accused me of being happy whilst telling her! Then she asked me what I was going to do for her. Confused somewhat. I just repeated to her the price. Where she then asked for my name. :confused::confused::rolleyes:

She wanted you to say 'I'm ever so sorry but it costs x pounds. I know this is a horrifically high price and I am embarassed to have to charge it but I don't set the fares and I only work here.' Which I'm sure would go down really well with your bosses!:rolleyes:

Just to put a smile on your face Serenwen - I used to work with a dour Yorkshire lass who could never have been accused of being happy! One day I said to her "Ah come on Brenda - cheer up and give us a smile" To which she replied "I am perfectly happy, its just my face isn't co-operating"

That must have been over 20 years ago now - I wonder if she realises it still gives me a giggle whenever I remember it?:)

I'm going to have to remember that one!

Apparently, when I am concentrating hard my face looks as though I'm miserable. A lot of people tell me this, but I don't even know it at the time, so it will be good to have a reply!

What she obviously wanted you to say was something along the lines of "Tell you what I'm going to do. At the risk of losing my much-loved and much-cherished job during this time of economic uncertainty, I am now going to re-program the cost-price decision-making and fare-setting software of the rail system so that you - yes, you! - may be able to enjoy our fine services at a much discounted price." Said with a smile of course. 😉

Haha Scott! I did wonder if she expected me to conjure up a discounted ticket just for her.Trying to explain my errors to accounts is bad enough without giving away cheap tickets! 😉
