Hi All,

Going through a tough time in my life at the moment and probably a mid-life crisis at 33 years old. I'm having my first tattoo on wednesday, it's going to be a lilac and pink butterfly and in a discreet place. I just feel spiritually its something I need to do as sort of a commitment and release of emotions I've had of late. I'm not nervous at all but if anyone knows why I might be attracted to a butterfly and what it symbolises, I'd appreciate any comments.

Butterfly symbol use in magic:
Butterfly is an almost mystical being. There is no other being that represents transformation like the Butterfly. She is a symbol of beauty and metamorphosis.
Butterfly is often used as a symbol of the soul and rebirth.
The Chinese use Butterfly as a symbol of joyfulness and happiness in marriage. As a guide Butterfly can show you the way to joy. Butterfly loves music, poetry, dance and all beautiful arts. She may also lead you on a path of inner discovery.
The Butterfly is a symbol of air, transformation and joy.

Yes, butterflies are a symbol of transformation, rebirth etc. (I have quite a few butterfly tattoos too!).

Also, it's said that we can tell our deepest secrets and wishes to butterrflies, as they make no sound; so our secrets are safe with them. As they fly upwards, our wishes can be granted..............:)

RE: What does a butterfly symbolise?

Yep, transformation, change rebirth all those ideas - also look at the colours you want too
pink - which is white light toning down red - universal love - and shares ownership with the heart chakra with green - it is a loving energy that is unconditional.
lilac - again this is violet mixed with white and is the colour of a Master energy - calms the body and mind, peaceful and loving.
Also which chakra - or part of body are you thinking of discreetly placing it - because maybe there will be the transformation.

luv binah
