Had a brief look on Google regarding this but just wondered... has science found any ''proof' re the presence of chakras?

This may well be in the wrong thread but I couldn't decide on whether it should have gone into Spirituality or Hinduism or Science.. so I bunged it on 'ere! 😀

Right... on your marks.. get set... and discuss!

Not sure if they do already but would not be surprised if they have.
Hindu mystics came to know about Chakras etc as way of knowing that occurs in no-mind or beyond mind. science has been catching up with mystic experience in dribs and drabs.. Quantum physics comes close to mysticism and both seem to point at the same thing in a very different terminology with one differnce that science is current and we have faith in it and yet thhe spiritual experience has been saying those things for thousands of years. Science takes time because it has a procedure to it. and there is no guarantee it will always be able to validate the mystic experience-the knowing rooted in utter unknowing or beyond mind.
A lot in Einstein is pure mysticism and there is a science to spirituality that boundaries fuzzy. Advanced science becomes mumbo jumbo advanced spirityuality becomes precise and scientific

The whole chakra system was one of the hardest things for me to come to terms with - precisely because scientifically and medically there is no proof they exist. However I am no so used to finding ways round my scientific scepticism,

My view is I don't NEED proof it exists because the idea is so complex and so old there has to be some logical reason why the ancients came up with it. Divine inspiration maybe???

I would LOVE science to prove chakras exist - but I suspect I will be waiting some time

I find it interesting that on a physical level the main chakras correlate with the hormone producing glands in the body. Maybe in the dim & distant past when the chakra system was first devised people were far more 'sensitive' and could 'see' the energy around the body generated/associated with these areas and that is what started it off - who knows! 😀

One thing I do find both amazing & amusing is that we all have a physical body and that we, in truth, know so little of how it really works and what we are truly capable of.

It's my understanding that they relate to the endocrine system and the main nerve plexus in the body. There's a chart of the autonomic nervous system that shows the relation quite well. Whilst I think it's 'good to know' I do still consider them energy centres in a less physical sense. When I work with them it's on an energetic level with the knowledge that they relate to the different glands but not that they actually 'are' the different glands.

Hi Delighted

To my current understanding, in order for science to come to terms with the chakras or life force generators which is what we call them, they first need to come to terms with and map consciousness, they then need to look beyond the physical brain as the storage device of our thoughts and then they might perceive that which is driving the thoughts within consciousness and our life experience.

I perceive the life force generators as the mid way point between our natural state of consciousness (non-physical) and our physicality (physical body, emotions and feelings etc).

An interesting point about the life force generators, is that they are not fixed within the body or in the same place in each person, we actively scan to find them and often have to move them out of the body to work within them and then replace them back once they have been healed, the reality is they are not central to the physical body, they are central to our matrix of consciousness, they are driven by consciousness not driven by the body as if often thought.

The way that I have mapped them out to create the Gaia-Now healing model which allows us to work within consciousness in a clear and concise way (this is still a work in progress, it is not perfect or complete, but it gives us a framework to work with), is that each life force generator is directly linked to a different aspect of our consciousness, or to be more precise, each one generates an aspect of our life force energy in accordance with the underlying state of its being, the combined life force energy which is stored within our life force reservoir (aura), is then utilised by the body to set up the environment which it functions within.

Each of the life force generators contains information, stored memories, judgements, self perceptions and beliefs, which has a direct influence upon the type of life force energy that each of the generators creates and stores within our life force reservoir to maintain our physicality, when you put it all together, then you end up with our matrix of consciousness.

We actively work to transform the information within the different aspects of consciousness when we use the transformational healing aspect of the modality to create a lasting change into all aspects of being.

So if we have harmony between our aspects of consciousness, then they are whole and create the life force energy that will create our general state of health and wellbeing to reflect the well balanced way of being, alternatively if we have inner separateness and disharmony between our various aspects of consciousness, then they will generate the life force energy that will create our general state of health and wellbeing to reflect the inner disharmony and conflict.

I think that one of the biggest obstacles that is stopping science or others from understanding or even looking into the existence of our life force generators is that they have been steeped in mysticism and spirituality, through that they have been embellished with all sorts of mystical and spiritual powers, but if they can learn to understand a thought for what it is and then move beyond the thoughts in our everyday thinking aspect of consciousness and start to understand the thoughts that are created in our other aspects of consciousness, then they will be able to perceive the life force generators for what they are.

I think you overestimate my intelligence Paul! 😀 - I am trying to understand but just end up scratching my head and looking confused. I think I get the jist of what you are saying.

Hi Angela, well that's food for thought - I shall retrieve my A&P book immediately!

Meurighj - yes I echo that sentiment!

Tashanie - we obviously think alike Tashanie - my inquisitive mind.. ever inquiring.

Jnani, I welcome science and spirituality becoming married together I think it would be wonderful - then we can stop with the 'us and them' syndrome and get on with healing the world 😀

I realised some time ago without my scientific side is necessary to my spirituality. It underpins it and makes me a better healer. If I hadn't had the 3o odd years of scientific background I wouldn't even be doing reiki.

Science and spirituality are NOT incompatible

Thanks for this interesting thread and everyone's comments. I've worked a bit with chakras for a long time without thinking too deeply about it or worrying about the scientific aspect.

A friend of mine recently mentioned that chakras could apparently move and this really confused me so thanks Paul for a bit more of an explanation of that.

For me I feel that my experiences of working with chakras (opening them for divination and meditation and seeing the powerful effects) and also the bodily feelings that I (and all of us I imagine) experience in my heart, gut and navel have validated the existence of them on a personal level, but it's good to read some more detailed explanations and thoughts of others.
