What is happening? why are organisations/businesses hell bent on poor service/goods, why do they not even care? why are they getting away with ripping people off constantly?
Nearly every week we have found ourselves bogged down with yet something else to confront, I don’t want this, it is getting to the point where it is seriously effecting my health, I feel I am in the middle of the ocean in a boat that I have just bought and it leaks, of course the company that sold me this boat said they can’t guarantee it would be ok in water!!!
Not so long ago we were in a world where ‘customers came first’ and you could express your distress or unhappiness without being bombarded with ‘zero tolerance’ notices. Let someone know you are just slightly aggrieved by their disgraceful service and you will be asked to leave or they hang up the phone. What happened to the time when consumer advice or trading standards appeared to be there for us. Not any longer though, they are all basically just lions with no teeth. Those with the teeth are the underhand cheating dogs, determined to grind you down till you just give up.
I wished I could write everything down here - if not just in the hope that there is a fairy frittering around somewhere that could make it all change and justice could once again prevail.
I will have to go now, waiting for a call from British Gas (the hundredth) this month to apologise for their constant incompetence. Then we have to try and get some joy out of Kwik Flow who charged £71 yesterday for flushing a clean water pipe out instead of sewerage, they don’t think there is a problem with this though. Then we have to photocopy correspondence from Primrose greenhouses who say it is not their fault a greenhouse blew down as they recommend not putting them in windy areas, maybe it should have been put in the kitchen. Sounds funny but seriously folk I am at the end of my tether. We are having more and more watchdog/rip off Britain type programmes but they are a waste of time, it is just getting intolerable.
It's absolutely rife nowadays .
Last month I ordered a t.v. from an internet website selling electrical goods . It ended up being a fraudulent company . It wasn't a pleasant experience . What was less pleasant was trying to get a refund off my bank lol .
My t.v stand was delivered and the delivery guy must of placed the parcel up against my car door whilst he opened my back gate . He put a nice crease in my door . Thanks mate .
It took 4 days to even get through to the right department that dealt with property damage .
They then lost my details and said that someone would come out to see me . No one came .lol .
More days off work taken whether it be waiting for a t.v. that was never going to come or a representative of a parcel company .
The bank eventually coughed up only when I put it to them past court of appeal cases but it took 3 weeks of conversations had trying to get them to answer my questions which they persistently ignored ..
Within days my son had his bank account hacked into and a friend had their council tax and phone credit taken out of his bank to fund someone else lol .
My mums fella was sold a old car with fake m.o.t certificate and fake service documents and someone at work lost most of his investment in a low risk share venture and to have the bank manager shrug his shoulders when he threatened to close his account with them .
Another friend a few weeks back was charged double the cost for car parts in a local garage just because she knows no different ..
I could go on and on but I think you see the pattern here 🙂

Absolute disgrace, why and how do people feel the need to do this is beyond me, do they never think that they would not like things like this happening to them!
By the way, just a pointer for folk, normally if you buy something via Barclaycard or such like it guarantees companies doing the dirty on you, we attempted to buy a settee few years back and the company went into liquidation, Barclaycard refunded us the money immediately..HOWEVER, beware, as in the case of the 'rip off' greenhouse we purchased from Primrose which we also paid for on Barclaycard - because we paid via PayPal, Barclaycard say they cannot refund. As for PayPal, I will never ever pay via this organisation again or anybody else's Pal.
I often hear the same sort of things said about health care services. That they are bad, that the staff don't care etc etc. I know that most of the staff will be overworked and wanting to give better service. I know because I WAS one of those overworked and criticised healthcare workers!!!
Maybe the same is true in other companies. Maybe they have too much work and too few staff.........just saying..........

Same happened here but I researched a case that was back in 2006 when a man took his bank to court . The judge viewed in his favour .
There was more to it but the bank became so arrogant that they ended up digging their own grave .. lol .
What happened was that they threw in the towel because they could not climb their way out of it ...
Power to the people 😀

Your actually probably quite right about this Tashanie, it is a sad state of affairs to be sure, in this day and age generally the workplace and everything associated with it leaves a lot to be desired. I was in Savers on Friday in Durham, it is always a hot shop to start with but on Friday the sweat was running down the faces of the staff, while I was there 3 or 4 customers just left. I am going to try and find their head office and tell them I will never shop there again whilst they are treating their staff so badly.
Everyone is worn to a frazzle, this can be observed everywhere you go. My son works for the NHS and he tells me more people are on the sick than ever, staff are losing empathy with the very people who need it. I don't believe for one moment though that privatisation will make it better, in fact it will probably be worse.
Regarding shoddy goods/services from commercial companies, I have a pretty good solution (has worked for me many times). I simply threaten to report them to the TV programme "Watchdog" - usually produces a swift, more satisfying result! (Another ploy could be to mention you'll be complaining in your local paper). They are all wary of bad publicity - that's the way to go.
I recall, years ago, Barclays bank made it peculiarly difficult for me to close my account (when I went to the bank). I was so exasperated and surprised that I started to raise my voice so that the other customers could hear, e.g. "why won't you let me close my account?" etc. Got seen to pretty sharpish after that!
British Gas, by the way, was the no. 1 company receiving complaints at Watchdog.
I've found twitter a great way to complain. Most companies seem to keep a close eye on their twitter account and you seem to get a more effective response than the typical "computer says no" or "let me pass you to someone else" call centre replies
And I feel so sorry for people who have to work in certain "customer service" call centres taking endless calls from complaining people. Must be an awful job.
AARRRGGGh
Can this be happening?
Since posting on this topic, today we could not understand why our Barclaycard was denied in Asda for only £7. Getting through to BC was a nightmare, my husband wears hearing aids and it was nigh on impossible for him to understand the person on the other end, I have a card on the same account but they would not speak to me, even when he told them he could not hear and gave permission to them to relay questions to me that he would then answer, still no joy, then he was cut off, then we had to use our mobile phone because home phone zapped out!
Cost something like £12 before they agreed to ring us back. And so to the matter in hand, why was our card denied in Asda? because some rip off underhand, scheming scum of a human being had managed to buy a car over £3,000 via our card! HOW, how is this possible, how could a company sell a car to someone on Barclaycard without them having the actual card.

Security measures that are put in place by banks are not to protect you - they are there so that the banks do not have to accept any responsibility.

Not always. I am with First Direct and a couple of times they have rung me to query a transaction - and one was actually bogus. Thanks to their vigilance it didn't go through and my account was protected.

I agree and also they hide behind their own self made regulations and then say sorry but we cannot help you .. I said to them you mean you 'won't help me' .. You make the rules and then hide behind them .. doh!!
I said to the bank your contract law does not supercede my human rights ..
'No answer / comment made from the bank on that score ''..
Even when the bank refunded me they still didn't accept liability .. Well they didn't refund me from the goodness of their own heart did they ..

Well, we all know how scandalous banks are...look what they have done to this country over the last few years!!!
I have 2 ongoing battles going on at the moment both since the new year 😡
One is with the company who manufactured our clothes drier, which has an intermittent fault and the other is with a local window firm who need to replace a couple of windows which are faulty and newly installed.
The drier company have only jumped into action since I threatened to go onto washing machine forums and tell my story - I am on first name terms with the Customer service manager now 😀 - he actually sympathises with me but still fobs me off with laying the blame at the insurance backed warranty and engineers.
The window company have failed to show up on several occasions and have ignored several letters despite reassuring me when I have managed to speak to the owner on the phone.
We have several small businesses and I could not imagine delivering such poor service - it is very exasperating. :banghead:
